San Jose, CA -June 14, 2011 -Visual production studio, Zoic Studios Engineering head, Saker Klippsten will be a keynote speaker at the 2011 Creative Storage Conference Tuesday June 28, 2011 at the DoubleTree Hotel West Los Angeles in Culver City, CA (formerly a Raddison Hotel). Saker's keynote is titled: Storage Management in Modern Media Workflows. Saker joins Larry Jordan as the two keynote speakers at this important industry event.
Saker's keynote talk will focus on "the constant call to reduce overhead, squeeze productivity and longevity from large capital purchases like digital storage. Workflows need to be thought out carefully. Companies large and small can no longer build pipelines around islands of storage, multi name spaces, and expect to be efficient. Tie this in with the need to take advantage of large scale render farms, high -speed data transfers systems, real -time playback, near line archiving/ disaster recovery , VMware servers and user authentication, can make your head spin - Literally." Saker concludes by saying "We will take a look at how clustered storage solutions with a single name space has simplified and improved workflows at Zoic Studios."
As Head of Zoic's Engineering/IT Departments Saker built Zoic from the ground up. In just 9 years he has developed a pipeline that started off with
2 TV shows and now handles 20+ TV shows in HD along with feature films, commercials, game development and interactive design using a single unified pipeline. With a background in Visual Effects it has given Saker a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between "IT" and creative artist workflows.
Prior to working at Zoic he was Sr. SysAdmin at Radium in San Francisco and
Santa Monica offices. Tom Coughlin, co -organizer of the Creative Storage
Conferences said "it is a pleasure to have an experienced technologist from a working production studio talk to us about the needs and issues for today's file based production and successful ways in which to implement a future -oriented digital production storage environment."
