THIEL President Kathy Gornik to be Honored with 2011 Women in CE Legacy Award
December 30th, 2010 (Lexington, KY) - U.S. loudspeaker company THIEL Audio (www.thielaudio.com), has announced that THIEL president and founder, Kathy Gornik, has been honored as a 2011 Women in CE Legacy Award recipient. Gornik co -founded THIEL in 1976, developing the company into an internationally respected manufacturer of high performance loudspeakers. She has also served in top leadership positions within the consumer electronics industry throughout her 30 -plus year industry tenure, including past chairmanship of the Consumer Electronics Association.
"Kathy was nominated by many men and women who know of her service to THIEL Audio and to the consumer electronics industry as a whole," stated Women in CE founder and publisher of Custom Retailer Magazine, Carol Campbell. "Kathy is extremely well thought of by those who have experienced first -hand her dedication and talent," Campbell added. Founded in 2009, Women in CE is a forum -based community created to provide women in the consumer electronics industry an environment that promotes networking and professional growth through the development of relationships and new opportunities.
Five finalists were selected for 2011 after a call for nominations yielded a field of twenty highly qualified candidates. "These final five honorees represent a cross section of leadership within the consumer electronics business, underscoring the significant role women have played in the industry's growth," stated Campbell. Committee members were asked to submit names of women who had inspired them, women they admire and look up to and women who made an impact on their careers in consumer electronics. Gornik responded by saying, "I have enjoyed my association with such a great number of fine men and women from within this industry, many of whom have had an impact on THIEL and my career -so I am pleased to accept their nomination for this award."
Gornik's leadership role in the consumer electronics industry includes serving as chairman of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) board of industry leaders and executive board, as a former board member of the Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) -board of governors, and as a member of the National Science and Technology Education Partnership (NSTEP) board of trustees. Kathy is past chairman of the Small Business Council, which she helped to create, and also served two different terms as chairperson of CEA's Audio Division as well as the Specialty Audio Subdivision, another CEA group which she was instrumental in founding.
The second annual presentation of the Women in CE Legacy Award will take place on Thursday, January 6th from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Paris Hotel, Champagne Ballroom. The ceremony is at 8:00, and more information on how to attend can be found at www.womenince.org.
