Toronto, Canada - GAO Fiber Optics (www.GAOFiberOptics.com) has announced the availability of its plug -in fixed attenuators, a series of electronic devices that reduce the amplitude, or power, of a signal without appreciably distorting the waveform. The attenuator introduces an in -line fixed loss that can reduce the source power to an acceptable detection level. This attenuator is designed for use in or with telecommunication networks, optical fiber CATV, measuring instruments, local area networks, optical fiber sensors and optical fiber to household systems. It is also deployed to lower voltage, dissipate power and to improve impedance matching.

These plug -in fixed attenuators are optimized for doped fiber technology and manufactured with various specifications such as different connector types and end face configurations. The easy -to -install electronic units feature stable environment performance, high return loss and low insertion loss. They work at wavelengths from 1260nm to 1620nm with a maximum handling power of 1W. The attenuation level in dB ranges from 0dB to 20dB at 1dB intervals.
