Video Furnace System 5 Incorporates High-Definition H.264 Throughout the Video-Over-IP System and Integrates the Compact and Affordable MAKITO HD H.264 Encoder Technology
MONTREAL and CHICAGO - April 14, 2009 - HaiVision Network Video, the world's leading vendor of high -performance H.264 encoders, codecs, and video -over -IP systems, today announced the availability of Video Furnace System 5. With HaiVision's new compact and affordable MAKITO HD H.264 encoder, the combined integrated solution provides a complete end -to -end HD H.264 video -over -IP distribution system.
HaiVision's Video Furnace provides a secure, easy -to -use, and simple -to -deploy system for encoding and distributing live video to computers and set -top boxes, for creating scheduled playback channels for enterprise TV and signage, and for recording content and delivering video on demand. H.264 is the most prevalent standard today for video compression and provides the bandwidth efficiency to better utilize network and storage resources when dealing with high -definition video.
"This is perhaps the most important release for the Video Furnace product," said Peter Maag, HaiVision's senior vice president. "Mass high -quality media delivery depends on performance, efficiency, and ubiquity. H.264 provides these benefits, and now the Furnace fully supports H.264 throughout the encoding, management, and delivery process."
Video Furnace System 5 provides complete end -to -end capabilities. The Furnace Portal Server controls the direct and secure distribution of SD and HD H.264 video to both the "zero footprint" InStream player and the STINGRAY set -top box. The Furnace Playback Manager supports scheduled channels for IP video broadcast and signage. The Furnace Media Server enables high -definition video -on -demand, leveraging the efficiencies of H.264. Furthermore, System 5 incorporates direct support of HaiVision's revolutionary MAKITO encoder, all in full high definition. Both will be shown publicly for the first time next week at HaiVision booth SL4126 at the 2009 NAB Show, which runs April 20 to 23 in Las Vegas.
"The marriage of the capabilities of Video Furnace System 5 and the affordability and performance of the MAKITO HD H.264 encoding platform yields the most powerful and complete video -over -IP solution available today," said Joe Gaucher, HaiVision's chief technology officer and founder of the Video Furnace technology. "Video Furnace System 5 is a remarkable harmony of technology and development teams, and we've only started paving the future of H.264 IP video. Stay tuned!"
