New Application Improves Ease of Use; Free for NetStreams Authorized Dealers
DENVER, CO - September 5, 2007 - NetStreams™, the global leader in networked audio/video distribution based on Internet Protocol (IP), introduced a new software application called DigiLinX™ Virtual Control Software, for DigiLinX IP -Based Multi -Room Audio/Video and Control system, here today at the CEDIA Expo. Making it even easier for homeowners to control their DigiLinX system from their PC, the software is available at no charge to authorized NetStreams dealers via the dealer section of the company's website (www.netstreams.com).
"The NetStreams' DigiLinX IP -Based Multi -Room Audio/Video system is known for its' ease of use," said Petro Shimonishi, NetStreams Vice President of Marketing and Product Management. "The introduction of DigiLinX Virtual Control Software is just one more example of how we're taking ease of use a step further for consumers by simplifying control of the system from a PC."
The DigiLinX Virtual Control Software is a Microsoft® Windows® application that allows a PC to serve as a control point for DigiLinX. As the name implies, the software allows DigiLinX to be controlled and accessed from any PC. Once installed, the software captures the IP address or Internet Explorer bookmark, allowing a consumer -friendly desktop shortcut to be created. Instead of requiring the user to open a Web browser page and then navigating to the desired room for control, the software application immediately knows to go to a predetermined room location when launched. This allows for a quicker response time and an even more intuitive graphical user interface for the end consumer.
The DigiLinX Virtual Control software is an ideal solution when the installer wants to provide the consumer with one or more Windows desktop shortcuts to go directly to a specific room easily and directly, without having to open the web browser window and select from a list of favorites. An additional benefit with the new software is that the graphical user interface now fills the entire display screen, eliminating the internet explorer navigation bar and tool bars.
The DigiLinX Virtual Control Software was well tested by NetStreams Dealers in a public beta test that ran on the NetStreams dealer forum during the month of August. "We received quite a number of favorable responses from our authorized installers to the beta test," said Paul Young, Director of Product Management for NetStreams. "We've made the software installation extremely easy for our dealers by providing a setup wizard with the application."
The DigiLinX Virtual Control Software will be available to authorized dealers beginning September.
