Lance-3000 MK2 upgrades controller hardware to 32 bit processor, expands functionality, and now includes LINUX in firmware.
Local Area Network Controlled Environment Systems Corporation (L.A.N.c.e. Systems Corporation) announces its upgrade to the LANce - 3000 for use in the Home Automation systems market.
While remaining compatible with all existing LANce -3000 modules, the new LANce -3000 MK2 system has made major enhancements to the computing power and storage of the main system - replacing the original 8 -bit controller with a low power consumption, 32 -bit, VIA Eden chip and upgrading to 64MB storage and 128MB of high -speed RAM, allowing for more growth, expansion, and new features.
Most notably, is the fact that one LANce -3000 MK2 can handle the work of two independent LANce SAMS (Security and Automation) or LANce LECS (HVAC control) controllers and up to four buses for less cost that the original MK1.
Furthermore, the expansion has allowed for nearly unlimited switch associations and quick macros, as well as adding soft -on; new single -toggle dimmer lighting to all dimmable modules; and support for select IP security cameras.
System integrators and installers will enjoy new features such as the ability to attach a standard VGA monitor for local troubleshooting messages. Known working system configurations can be backed up, restored, upgraded or even downgraded - using a USB drive. This allows for record -time firmware upgrades and patch installation, and a defective unit can now be replaced and configured in less than 15 minutes.
Based on the latest in low power consumption microcontrollers, distributed computing advances, and the powerful preconfigured LINUX operating system embedded in firmware, this system creates a highly flexible, low -voltage and stable system that manages any power voltage combination from 12v to 240v in either AC or DC allowing for truly universal control.
The LANce - 3000 system can be preconfigured before installation and configurations can be updated remotely from any web browser - - reducing the number of house calls by system integrators. The easy -to -use web interface allows for modifications by the end user, should they wish that level of control.
Standard wiring switching devices are used, making it easy to match any décor and provide a familiar user interface with almost no end user learning curve for normal daily use.
The LANce -3000 system features integrated Automation, Security, Fire, Irrigation, and HVAC monitoring and control functionality.
