Zinc Matrix Power Moves To New Facility For Pilot Production Of Silver -Zinc Battery

Zinc Matrix Power, a leading global provider of silver-zinc, rechargeable battery technology for high-energy, portable applications, announces the opening of its new headquarters and pilot production facility.

CAMARILLO, CA - April 3, 2007 - Zinc Matrix Power, a leading global provider of silver -zinc, rechargeable battery technology for high -energy, portable applications, announces the opening of its new headquarters and pilot production facility. The company's new 43,000 square foot facility is located in Camarillo, California. The facility will use the latest in process manufacturing practices and will be operational this month.




According to Zinc Matrix Power president, Dr. Ross Dueber, the company chose the new location to accommodate the growth of the organization, to improve operational systems and to facilitate communications between research, development and production. "Our focus is commercialization of our battery technology. Our new location will provide us with better company -wide integration. Our engineering and research staffs will easily collaborate within a much more cohesive environment. When research efforts uncover a further improvement to our technology, we can implement production of that improvement right away."



Zinc Matrix Power will carry out early manufacturing runs, pilot scale production and process development in their new Camarillo, California facility. Volume production will be launched in China in 2008 through Zinc Matrix Power's contract manufacturing partner, Tyco Electronics Corporation.

Since Zinc Matrix Power's formation, the company has developed high -performance, rechargeable silver -zinc battery technology for commercial and military markets. Zinc Matrix Power batteries offer an extremely high ratio of energy to volume (Wh/l) in applications such as notebook computers, cell phones, and on -body power for military electronics. Zinc Matrix Power batteries provide longer runtime than lithium -containing battery packs of the same size.



Zinc Matrix Power batteries are based on intrinsically safe water -based chemistry, and contain no lithium or flammable solvents. Unlike lithium ion and lithium polymer batteries, Zinc Matrix Power batteries are free from the problems of thermal runaway, fire, and danger of explosion. Zinc Matrix Power batteries are also free from the regulations that limit the size of lithium -containing batteries on airplanes. Additionally, Zinc Matrix Power batteries offer environmental advantages since key battery components can be 100% recycled and reused.



Zinc Matrix Power introduced and demonstrated its rechargeable battery technology based on silver, zinc and water at the Intel Developers Forum (IDF) Conference, last fall in San Francisco, CA, during which it won Intel's "Technology Innovation Accelerated" (TIA) Award in the Mobility category.
