Gefen Connects High Definition Audio/Video Systems with Different Interfaces

Practical, Cost-Effective Adapters from Gefen Enable Direct Connections Between Component, DVI and HDMI Interfaces

Las Vegas, NV - Just because HDTV and digital video formats are compatible doesn't mean you can plug one into the other. New game systems, DVD players, televisions, satellite set top boxes and computer displays can all be equipped with just one of several interfaces. The most popular for digital video include DVI (digital visual interface), HDMI (high -bandwidth digital multimedia interface) and component (RGB) video.

To further muddy the waters, DVI and component pass through video only while HDMI supports video plus up to eight channels of digital audio. So what do you do when you want to build a system using various interfaces or upgrade your existing system with a 1080p -capable HDMI television?

You turn to Gefen. At CES, the solutions provider is showcasing three new adapters, designed to take the hassle out of integrating systems. All three offer full support for audio and HDCP -compliant HDTV resolutions up to 1080p.

HDMI to DVI+Audio Adapter
Splits the HDMI signal into DVI video and digital audio allowing HDMI sources to deliver high definition video to DVI displays with an independent audio output. Supports color space conversion from 444 to 442 as well as surround sound and up to eight channels of digital audio for an engaging audio/visual experience. The HDMI to DVI+Audio Adapter will support DVI video and TOSlink audio.

DVI+Audio to HDMI Adapter
Converts DVI video and a separate digital audio input to the HDMI format, allowing DVI sources to delver video to any HDMI television or projector. Supports surround sound and up to eight channels of digital audio. The DVI+Audio to HDMI Adapter will support DVI video and S/PDIF audio.

Component+Audio to HDMI Adapter
Allows component video sources and a separate analog audio input to connect to any HDMI display or projector, making it an ideal product to support Xbox 360 and PS3 gamers as well as HDTV set top boxes and DVD players.

Live demonstrations of the new adapters from Gefen will be taking place throughout CES in booth 22031, in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
