Jacksonville, FL - January 8, 2007 - Phase Technology, the leading manufacturer of high -fidelity speakers for custom home entertainment systems, introduces the eighth generation of its well -known CI Series of in -ceiling and in -wall speakers.
In 1985, Phase Tech became the second manufacturer in the world to offer flush -mount in -wall speakers, helping to create a whole new category of product. Phase Tech even invented the ubiquitous "dog ear" mounting tabs used in nearly every architectural speaker in the world. CI series speakers reflect the strength of Phase Tech's engineering heritage and have received many industry awards and glowing reviews for their smooth sound quality and wide coverage.
This latest iteration features all -new drivers, with several models featuring woofer cones of woven glass, developed as an offshoot of Phase Tech's state of the art dARTS digital theater system speakers. These woofers also have new motor structures, increasing bass output by 2 dB. Most models use an all new high output 1" soft dome tweeter. These new drivers are managed by newly upgraded Absolute Phase™ crossover networks, yielding significantly better overall response than previous models and an additional 2dB of overall sensitivity.
A hallmark of Phase Tech's CI Series has always been a universal mounting flange/grill assembly, so that one rectangular and one round mount (available in either flat or 15˚ tilt versions) fit the entire product line. A dealer can install these universal mounts in the trim phase for painting, and then the client can choose from any of several models covering a broad spectrum of price/performance. A client can even very easily have his dealer replace his high end speakers with more modest ones when he moves, taking the new flange/grills and the old speakers to install in his new home. Dealers also find that preinstalling flange/grill assemblies throughout a home or office yields far more speaker sales in a shorter period of time than if the wires were simply buried in the ceiling or walls.
Phase Tech's new CI Series consists of six round in -ceiling models, and seven rectangular in -walls. Ranging from basic 6.5" 2 -ways up to 7" 3 -ways, each group includes a dual tweeter version that can be configured to operate as either single -point stereo, standard mono, or as a dipolar or bipolar surround speaker.
Tony Weber, Phase Technology Director of Sales & Marketing commented, "In refining our popular CI Series, we were able to significantly upgrade sensitivity and bass response. Our crossover networks have been completely redone to not only perform better, but to also reflect these higher levels of performance, with heavier circuit boards, beefier components, and larger gauge wiring. Architectural speakers are such an important part of our business, and our industry, that we felt we really had to stretch the state of the art for mid -priced speakers. We're VERY pleased with the results of this project!"
Phase Tech's new CI Series VIII will start shipping later in Q1 2007.
The CI Series VIII will be displayed at CES booth 21416 (South Hall Level 1).
About Phase Technology
Phase Technology Corporation (toll -free at 888 -PHASE TK; website at www.phasetech.com), part of the MSE Audio Group, is one of the few fully -vertically integrated American speaker manufacturers. The company started as United Speaker Systems in 1955 as an original equipment manufacturer and still designs and produces its own sub -assemblies in -house. Phase Technology's speaker lines incorporate many proprietary innovations like the soft -dome tweeter, the industry's standard invented by Bill Hecht, founder of Phase Technology. Other patents cover the self -damping woofer voice coil, the manufacturing process for flat -piston midrange drivers and woofers, silicone -injected drivers for resonance damping, and the positive -clamping mounting system for the premier in -wall Model CI -110/II. The company also developed the Unicell™ Zero -Diffraction treatment that reduces acoustic reflections off cabinet and grille surfaces. Phase Technology manufactures its wood cabinets by hand and performs quality control tests at every step of the fabrication process.
Building on five decades of design and engineering innovation in the manufacture of high quality, yet affordable speakers, Phase Technology supports its products with a 10 -year warranty on speakers, while amplifiers are backed by a 3 -year warranty. Phase Technology's digital home theater, audiophile, outdoor, in -wall/in -ceiling custom installation speakers, as well as powered and in -wall subwoofers are constructed at the company's Jacksonville, Florida facility.
