New Phase Technology dARTS 525 Systems Bring Breakthrough Theater Sound to Smaller Rooms

JACKSONVILLE, FL - January 8, 2007 - Phase Technology, the leading manufacturer of high -fidelity speakers for custom home entertainment systems, introduces the dARTS 525 Series, a smaller version of their acclaimed dARTS 650 Digital Audio Reference Theater Systems. Utilizing the same 16 x 250 watt digital amplifier with comprehensive DSP capabilities, and Phase Tech's customized version of Audyssey Labs' famed MultEQ XT -Pro room measurement and correction software, dARTS 525 systems does everything the original dARTS 650 systems does, but with just a slightly lower maximum output level. The dARTS 525 Series is appropriate for reference level performance in rooms of up to 3500 cubic feet.

The dARTS 525 Series features a new 5.25 inch woven glass/nomex honeycomb woofer, in place of the 6.5 inch versions in the original dARTS 650 Series. This allowed Phase Tech to build much smaller cabinets to fit into both tighter spaces and budgets. As in the dARTS 650 Series, the new smaller systems are available in custom built -in (CB) black painted cabinets, free -standing (FS) lacquered cabinets in gloss cherry and piano black, and in -wall (IW) versions, which can be mixed -and -matched to add further flexibility options.

Phase Technology builds its dARTS drivers to meet an extremely tight tolerance, and then using the DP -2000 amplifier's onboard DSP to adjust each finished system to also be within ±0.5 dB. The available DSP allows Phase Tech's engineers to calibrate frequency response, phase and time alignment, and crossover frequency/slopes to amazingly tight tolerances, yielding perfectly matched systems every time. Of course, once a system is installed in a room, much of that matching is negated by the room's acoustic properties. Audyssey MultEQ XT -Pro software allows a trained installer to measure each room's individual acoustic anomalies and automatically develop correction curves for each individual channel. These correction curves, utilizing FIR filters, are then uploaded to non -volatile EPROM memory in the DP -2000 amplifier, which then biamps or triamps each speaker for an incredible level of control. The result is that the four versions of Phase Tech's and Audyssey's target curves are achievable in nearly any acoustic environment, yielding precise, dependable, repeatable sound throughout any listening area. Several "Best in Show" awards from CEDIA and rave reviews in multiple magazines attest to the success of the marriage between Phase Tech speakers and electronics, and Audyssey's room correction program.

"Phase Technology's new dARTS 525 Series speakers allow the unbelievable sound of dARTS technology to now fit into many more people's rooms and budgets, said Tony Weber , Director of Sales & Marketing at Phase Technology. "We are so proud of the awards and press we've received, recognizing how important dARTS technology is. It truly is the future of audio reproduction, just as Ken Hecht foresaw when he started working on the digital speaker project back in 1990. That this amazing performance, which is available regardless of what a listening room is like, is now available in six different versions and price points, along with being fully customizable, means that many more people can now enjoy its benefits.

The dARTS 525 Series is available now in its FS (Free -Standing) and CB (Custom Built -In) versions, with the IW (In -Wall) models appearing in mid -Q1 2007.

The dARTS 525 Series will be displayed at CES booth 21416 (South Hall Level 1) & demonstrated at the Las Vegas Hilton Central Tower Suite 1250.

The company started as United Speaker Systems in 1955 as an original equipment manufacturer and still designs and produces its own sub -assemblies in -house. Phase Technology's speaker lines incorporate many proprietary innovations like the soft -dome tweeter, the industry's standard invented by Bill Hecht, founder of Phase Technology. Other patents cover the self -damping woofer voice coil, the manufacturing process for flat -piston midrange drivers and woofers, silicone -injected drivers for resonance damping, and the positive -clamping mounting system for the premier in -wall Model CI -110/II. The company also developed the Unicell™ Zero -Diffraction treatment that reduces acoustic reflections off cabinet and grille surfaces. Phase Technology manufactures its wood cabinets by hand and performs quality control tests at every step of the fabrication process.

Building on five decades of design and engineering innovation in the manufacture of high quality, yet affordable speakers, Phase Technology supports its products with a 10 -year warranty on speakers, while amplifiers are backed by a 3 -year warranty.
