Anchor Bay's ABT1010 Video Reference Series Scaling Enables Yamaha's New AV Receiver to Up -Scale to 720p and 1080i
CAMPBELL, Calif. - Nov. 7, 2006 - Anchor Bay, a leading supplier of video processing semiconductors (ASICs) and systems, today announced that its ABT1010 video scaling chip - featuring proprietary Video Reference Series™ (VRS™) Precision Video Scaling™ technology - has been chosen by Yamaha for use in its new RX -V2700 HDMI -enabled AV receiver.
Yamaha's RX -V2700 is a mid -class, 7.1 -channel AV digital home theater receiver that provides consumers with an unprecedented number of entertainment options. The RX -V2700 features an Ethernet connection, enabling consumers to access Internet radio stations, music files stored on a PC, and the company's premier MusicCAST audio system server (MCX -2000). It is compatible with the Apple iPod, via an optional docking station (YDS -10), and allows playback of XM Satellite Radio's standard and XM HD surround content.
The RX -V2700 is capable of HDMI, 1080p signal pass -through, and up -converting analog composite, S -video, and component signals to HDMI output, with a time base corrector that stabilizes the video signal. Powered by Anchor Bay's ABT1010 scaling engine, the RX -V2700 up -scales to HD resolutions of 720p and 1080i.
"Anchor Bay's ABT1010 scaling engine was exactly what we were looking for in the RX -V2700 from a performance, cost, and design standpoint," said Izumi Ozeki, engineering manager of AV receiver products, Yamaha. "With AV receivers, flexibility and functionality are key. We've built a quality product that has taken dramatic steps forward with its advanced video processing capabilities."
Based on proprietary video scaling technology, Anchor Bay's ABT1010 scaling engine can independently scale an image horizontally and vertically to achieve outstanding picture quality on today's high -resolution video displays. The ABT1010 is completely flexible, accepting 480p/576p formats and outputting any resolution from VGA (640x480) to 1080p (1920x1080) with no ringing or other artifacts often found in lesser -quality scaling engines.
"Anchor Bay is quickly becoming the reference standard in video processing technologies, and it is an honor to have the support of a trusted and respected brand like Yamaha," said Craig Soderquist, CEO at Anchor Bay. "By providing the RX -V2700 with the ability to up -scale to HD resolutions, the ABT1010 scaling engine enhances the receiver with advanced video processing capabilities to complement its wide offering of features."
Anchor Bay's Precision Video Scaling is one of the video processing solutions marketed under the VRS umbrella. Other VRS brand technologies include Anchor Bay's RightRate™, AutoCUE -C™, Precision AV LipSync™, and the new Precision Deinterlacing™.
