Web Mountain Announces Energy Management for the Home

Web Mountain Technologies, specializing in the integration of IP and PLC for the ultimate in home control, announces new UPB functionality that will enable home-owners to maximize the comfort in their homes while simultaneously reducing energy use.

The NetPlace Energy Management module continually monitors various inputs and constantly adjusts various outputs to achieve the goal of maximum comfort with minimum energy. As an example, on a summer evening NetPlace will open windows to let the cool night air in. In the morning blinds will be lowered in rooms taking early morning sun. As outdoor temperatures rise, NetPlace will start closing windows, lowering more drapes and turning on fans. NetPlace actively monitors indoor temperatures in each room, changing window, blind and fan settings in those that are heating up most quickly. NetPlace, of course, notices which rooms are occupied, and considers long term occupation patterns for each room in making control point determinations. Eventually, the house's HVAC system will have to be brought into play. If the house has a basement, the furnace fan will come on first, pumping cool basement air to the rooms most in need. NetPlace will individually set register openings in each room, making sure the warm rooms get the cooling air while those still comfortable are spared unnecessary chilling effects. Finally, the AC will be put into play but with those rooms not in need spared the discomfort of unnecessary cooling.

Web Mountain will demonstrate NetPlace's Energy Management feature in booth 729 at the CEDIA Expo to be held in the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, CO from September 14, 2006 through September 17, 2006.
