KEF Home Theatre 3000 Series Sub Marries Sexy Design With Stunning Sound

Meet HTB2, the First Subwoofer You Won't Want to Hide

MARLBORO, NJ - May 15, 2006 - Part of KEF's new 5.1 home cinema speaker system, the HTB2 high -powered subwoofer is a work of art in its own right. High -end audio engineering meets inspired futuristic design, resulting in a subwoofer that is unique, versatile and seismic. Featuring a long -throw drive unit and a passive radiator, powered by a high -performance amp, the HTB2 gives home theater enthusiasts audiophile -quality sound, good looks and complete placement flexibility.

The beauty of KEF's new subwoofer resides not only on its aesthetic appeal but also on its unique configuration, which allows for vertical or horizontal positioning. Upright or sideways, the end result is the same -the 3D sound and stunning bass realism that are KEF's trademarks.

Lush bass and full -bodied sound are produced thanks to the HTB2's 250W class D amplifier and 10 -inch driver. Combined with an Auxiliary Bass Radiator (ABR) of the same size, the sub produces deep, defined bass with a tight response. Sporting an acoustically inert ABS -molded enclosure shaped to eliminate internal standing waves and featuring SmartBass™ 'connect and go' functionality, the HTB2 is a breeze to setup. A two -position phase switch and a three -position bass boost switch allow simple sound adjustment.

"The 3000 series and the HTB2 sub continue the KHT Home Theatre tradition of offering innovative, sophisticated and décor -friendly design," said Alec Chanin, president of KEF America. "One look, and its clear we've created something very special! This is a tremendously exciting product."
After careful research with consumers, KEF designed the HTB2 for either vertical or horizontal placement. This is achieved by simply removing the factory fitted base -foot (for vertical) and fixing the additional three feet to the rim of the driver (for horizontal). No matter how the sub is positioned, the control panel and connections are easily accessible.

The KEF Home Theatre 3000 Series builds on the huge success of the popular KHT2005.2 system, resulting in a 5.1 system that delivers the dialogue and sound effects of today's digital soundtracks, as well as the streamlined looks design -conscious consumers demand. Currently available, the system comprised of 4 satellites, 1 center channel and the HTB2 subwoofer, retails at an MSRP of $1,500. To match a variety of home interiors, KEF offers the 3000 series in high -gloss silver or in a stunningly new high -gloss black finish. A la carté, the HTB2 retails at $799.
