The JansZen One is an electrostatic hybrid loudspeaker in a novel monopolar line array configuration. Unlike most electrostatics, its wide dispersion and high efficiency allow closed back operation. Its forward -only, cylindrical sound field minimizes the involvement of room acoustics. The systems are three -way, with electrostatic tweeters and midranges. The ED woofer has unusually low distortion, and its placement near the floor provides quartispherical (sic) dispersion that combines naturally with the field from the ES line array. Tri -amplification is built in, and the crossovers are active, combining rolloff rate optimization with phase control in the crossover regions. Switched bass and sub -sonic management are also included. Reliability is assured by stress testing of every component, not to mention enlightened attention to materials and methods. Being powered, a reasonably priced, top flight audiophile system can be completed with nothing more than a player and some cables. The JansZen One system is priced at $32,500.
