Minicom introduces new rack drawer with integrated 16 Port KVM Switch

Combines all the advantages of Minicom's popular CAT5 switches and the RackManager's dual rail technology

Minicom Advanced Systems, a leading innovator and manufacturer of KVM Switches and remote access technologies for IT infrastructure management, has begun delivery of the SmartRack 16, a rack drawer with an integrated 16 port CAT5 KVM switch.

The revolutionary integration of a KVM over CAT5 switch with a rack manager helps streamline server management. Combining all the advantages of Minicom's popular CAT5 switches and the RackManager's dual rail technology, SmartRack 16 helps IT managers meet business demands on budget.

Designed for effective, efficient control and management of servers in the rack, the SmartRack 16 answers a growing demand in the market for server management solutions, and the ever -present need for local KVM access at the rack.

'The integrated KVM switch saves valuable rack space by combining the rack drawer and the KVM switch in the same U. KVM over CAT5 technology provides more efficient cable management, allowing you to connect up to 16 servers or computers to the SmartRack 16 rack manager over flexible CAT5 cable. The integrated switch, with its support for multiple platforms (PS/2, SUN, USB), is also an ideal solution for mixed server environments,' stated Benny Hayumi, Minicom's Product Manager.

The SmartRack 16 takes advantage of RackManager's support for multilingual keyboards, and comes in seven different language models with eight keyboard options. Dual rail technology keeps the monitor on a separate rail from the keyboard and mouse, allowing users to view the screen even when the rack door is closed.

The combination rack drawer and KVM switch can also be used to manage a rack full of players for digital signage applications, and then integrated with Minicom's audio video distribution products.
