Ten New Models Join B&W's

Form Industry's Most Comprehensive Lineup of High-Performance Architectural Loudspeakers

N. Reading, MA -Sept. 2005 -Britain's Bowers & Wilkins is well established worldwide as the leading producer of loudspeakers for high -performance home audio and home -theater systems, including its Custom Installation Series' broad array of in -wall, "architectural" designs. With the addition of no fewer than ten new models B&W today expands this family to create one of the most complete and broadly applicable range of high -performance in -wall offerings available.

As is true across the Custom Installation Series, the new introductions showcase some of the B&W technologies that have made the name globally respected wherever serious audio reproduction is the subject. The company's famous aluminum -dome 1 -inch tweeter with Nautilus technology is employed on many premium models. B&W's familiar woven -Kevlar™ bass/midrange drivers also appear on top -model Custom Installation Series speakers, and several feature EQ switching to optimize performance, for example, behind decorative screens or in other concealed locations. Like every B&W Custom Installation model, the new additions feature the series' uniquely convenient "swing -out dogs" latching mechanism for quick and easy, yet positive and secure wallboard installation, and all 10 new models can be matched by optional pre -mount kits for precise, secure new -construction/renovation projects. The three new in -wall (rectangular) models also feature "back -box" options for sound isolation and building code compliance.

B&W's ten Custom Installation Series additions lead with the impressive CWM LCR 7, a very wide -range, four -driver 3 -way design that nevertheless measures just 23.6 x 5.9 x 3.8 inches (cutout x mounting -depth), ideal for main -channels use in sophisticated, custom -designed multichannel home -theater or audio systems. Also debuting is the CWM 6260, a rectangular 2 -way of 11.1 x 7.3 x 3.7 inches (cutout x mounting -depth) that offers an impressive combination of value and genuine B&W -level performance; the generally similar CWM 6160 (without tweeter level control) approaches the same quality from an even more accessible price.

Seven new circular, ceiling -mount speakers are highlighted by the unique, dual -channel CCM 746S. Fitting within a 8.1 -inch cutout diameter, this speaker accepts a two -channel signal -input, and employs dual mid/high -frequency drivers and a unique 2 -way configuration to develop convincing, accurate stereo reproduction from a single, in -ceiling speaker location; the slightly less expensive CCM 646S is generally similar, but has a glass fiber bass cone instead of the Kevlar® cone found in the 746S. Five more 2 -way round ceiling speakers in 6.5 inch and 8 inch woofer configurations provide maximum installation versatility and sound quality when used in pairs where stereo reproduction is required, are also being introduced.

The new B&W Custom Installation Series models will be available September 2005, at the following manufacturer's suggested prices:
