D -Tools Announces Design Award Winners at CEDIA

Designs show the best-of-the-best created with System Integrator software Over $25,000 in prizes offered by Draper, Elan, Screen Innovations, Atlantic Technology, AudioQuest and AutoDesk

Indianapolis, IN, September 9, 2005 - The winners of the prestigious 2005 D -Tools Design Awards in the Best Residential System, the Best Commercial system, the Most Unique System, and the Best Overall System categories were announced at CEDIA today. The D -Tools Design Awards were created to showcase the best of the best residential and commercial projects created with any version of D -Tools System Integration software. Winners were selected by the D -Tools Development team and Certified Partners.

The designer for the Best Overall System was Bill Cole of Sound Advice from Springfield, Massachusetts for their whole house system design. Cole's complete system design and simple, but thorough use of all aspects of the software in the plan, elevation and schematic views garnered him the coveted award.

The Most Unique System was designed by David Jasak of Texas Integrated Systems. The main level of the home is an open floor plan inside of a 'glass box' and the lower floor was completely underground. The challenges of wiring and equipment placement, as well as excellent line drawings, elevations and nice integration with AutoCAD earned him the praise of the judges.

The Best Residential System design was captured by Phil Grenier of Home Systems Design Associates Inc. of Norwell, Massachusetts. His clean plan views, documentation, excellent phone power and lighting documentation, good schematics as well as a cleanly designed elevation rack make him D -Tools' best residential system designer of the year.

Second and third place designs were awarded to Sol Calderon of Home Technologies Inc. and Tony Welch of Magnolia Audio Video Design Center respectively. Both designs used the software and accessory packages to create clean elevations, plans and schematics.

Best Commercial System design was given to Jeffrey Grim of Lights -out Operations Services & Technology from Syracuse, NY. The design of a data center had a nice use of elevations, custom stencils, unique use of jpeg images and clean floor plans and schematic diagrams to earn Jeff the commercial award this year.

D -Tools Manufacturer Partners participated in the Design Awards by sponsoring categories and providing prizes to the winners. Over $25,000 in prizes have been provided by Draper, Elan, Screen Innovations, Atlantic Technology, AudioQuest and AutoDesk participating. D -Tools is also offering a copy of System Integrator 4.5 Standard - a $3,000 value - for the winners in each category. All entrants were recognized for their submissions with a prize package valued at $100.

Besides the manufacturer prizes, each winning company will receive an award for their office. "Winning the Design Award is an exceptional accomplishment," said Jeff Rader, Director of Marketing and Communications and Design Awards coordinator. "We've found a award that matches the classiness of being the 'best of the best.'"

Winners will be showcased in D -Tools booth #325 at CEDIA. "We could think of no better place to show off the winning companies than at CEDIA in September," said Rader. "We wanted to find as big a venue as possible. Winners will certainly have the opportunity to brag during the show. This will also show other system integrators what's possible with the software."
