Embedded Automation Unveils their Expanded and Enhanced mHome Product Line at the CEDIA EXPO
Surrey, BC - September 9, 2005
Embedded Automation will be unveiling an expanded mHome product line in addition to significant enhancements to an existing product all this weekend at their booth (#1224) at the CEDIA EXPO in Indianapolis from September 9 - 11, 2005. The mHome product line was developed to create both software and hardware solutions for the home automation and media center markets.
The products being showcased are part of the mHome product line and include a home automation software application, mControl; a media center PC solution, mTheater; a home automation controller, mServer; and a secondary display for media center PC's, mDisplay. For mControl, Embedded Automation will be demonstrating their upcoming release, v1.2, which offers new functionality.
'The mHome product line today and moving forward is helping to redefine the industry by bringing the most powerful technologies of today and making them available to everyone', said Maury Lum, Product Line Manager for Embedded Automation. 'To date, home automation, digital media, and other technologies for a 'smart' home have been restricted to only those who could afford the attached price tag. What we have been able to do with our own expertise, the advances in technology, and our valued partners, is put together a packaged solution for most common use scenarios and cost requirements', Lum remarked.
mControl - Update
mControl v1.2 will be released later in September and is being demonstrated at the CEDIA Expo. v1.2's most notable enhancements include camera support and real -time event notification.
'For camera support we are extremely pleased to be supporting D -Link cameras. The D -Link line is widely available, easy to install, and offers great value to the consumer.'
'Supporting powerful but still consumer accessible solutions like Windows Media Center, INSTEON automation products, and D -Link cameras has proven to be something that has worked really well for us', Lum said. 'We will continue to build on this tremendous market acceptance of mControl and provide functional value to our customers'.
*These feature enhancements are available at no charge to all v1.0 and 1.1 customers.
Designed aesthetically and ergonomically as a home stereo component rather than a PC, mTheater offers the ultimate look and user experience without sacrificing any functionality. mTheater has also been built on a custom chassis that assists with the maintenance of its quiet and cool environment. Features include high definition video output, convenient interfaces in the front and back of the unit, optional HDTV input, and comes preloaded with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, mControl, and mNewsCenter. In addition, with up to 1.2 Terabytes of storage for all of your pictures, music, and other digital media, mTheater can be the nexus for your digital smart home.
mServer is a dedicated platform used to manage building and home automation operations. Based on the CX1000 industrial controller, designed and manufactured by Beckhoff Automation, mServer provides an unparalleled level robustness for managing automation systems.
'It was our extreme pleasure to be able to work with Beckhoff, a world leader in embedded PC technology as it was our goal to provide the very best solution for running our mControl service', commented Maury Lum, mHome Product Line Manager. 'mServer is an extremely compact, powerful unit, which is also DIN -rail mountable in almost any utility area. Of notable importance is that we can easily support and expand our functionality which will allow both mServer and mControl to become the premier home and building automation hardware /software solution.'
Jason Sowder, Northwest Sales and Marketing Manager from Beckhoff Automation said that 'our relationship with Embedded Automation will further help us in our commitment to promote our technology for building automation. Our wide use of open standards and Windows -based technologies has proven that our systems are extremely well suited for building control. Embedded Automation has also followed these standards with their leading mControl software, so together we can provide a robust and dedicated solution with tremendous flexibility and expandability.'
mDisplay is a secondary display that can be added to almost any media center PC machine. In addition to providing real -time session information of media center activity (e.g. which TV show is on or what CD is playing) mDisplay also provides a convenient set of buttons to navigate Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.
'We have teamed up with Media Center Magic, designers of the industry -leading FrontView software to develop a solution that provides enhanced display capabilities and remote -less operation of a Media Center PC', commented Lum.
