Extron Introduces New DVI 201 Tx/Rx for Long Distance DVI & HDMI Transmissions

This is a transmitter and receiver set for sending Single Link DVI (Digital Visual Interface) or HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) signals using conventional data network cabling such as CAT 5e and CAT 6.

Anaheim, CA (June 9, 2005) - Extron Electronics is pleased to introduce the new DVI 201 Tx/Rx DVI/HDMI Extender. This is a transmitter and receiver set for sending Single Link DVI (Digital Visual Interface) or HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) signals using conventional data network cabling such as CAT 5e and CAT 6. The DVI 201 Tx/Rx is capable of transmitting HDTV signals over 200 feet (60 meters) and computer -video signals over 100 feet (30 meters) at UXGA (1600 x 1200) resolution.


When used with Extron's new line of DVI -HDMI adapters, the DVI 201 Tx/Rx is fully compatible with HDMI, a new digital video, audio, and control standard for consumer and professional A/V.

The DVI 201 Tx/Rx supports long distance transmission of the DDC (Digital Display Channel) signal as part of the DVI standard, as well as HDCP (High -bandwidth Digital Content Protection), used for copy protection of HDTV broadcasts and high resolution content from DVD players and HD set -top boxes.

Several features facilitate convenient, streamlined system integration. The DVI 201 Tx transmitter includes a DVI input loop -through to support monitoring on a local display device. RS -232 signals can be transmitted along with the DVI or HDMI signals, enabling remote monitor or projector control. Additionally, either the transmitter or receiver can be remotely powered, so that only one of the devices requires external power. The DVI 201 Tx transmitter and DVI 201 Rx receiver are housed in 1" high, quarter rack width metal enclosures.
