Scottish Developer Of ShowShifter Acquired

Home Media Networks Ltd, the leading developer of media center software, today announced that it has been acquired by SkyNetGlobal, Australia's leading provider of wireless broadband and home lifestyle solutions. The acquisition by SkyNetGlobal, dual listed on AIM in London and the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX), will enable Home Media Networks to market ShowShifter, its all -in -one media center software, into new markets and also gives SkyNetGlobal a presence in the UK.

Home Media Networks will keep its existing management team and continue its Edinburgh -based operations. Online sales of the software will continue, with the addition of products from SkyNetGlobal's W Home Automation range. SkyNetGlobal will also integrate ShowShifter into their product range available through its established retail channels across Australia.

The Australian based company has recently signed a deal worth $23 million (US) in Eastern Europe to provide digital lifestyle products for installation in new build upscale apartment buildings. SkyNetGlobal see this as a significant new market for them, and will offer ShowShifter as part of the overall suite of products to create a compelling all in one solution.

ShowShifter allows users to watch, record and time -shift (pause) TV, play DVDs, CDs and MP3 music files all through one interface. The ability to control ShowShifter with a remote control and its unique Farview interface enables the consumer to use the product from anywhere in the room with a simple, unified interface for all home entertainment components (DVR, DVD, CD, etc), as with conventional home entertainment products. ShowShifter has seen soaring demand since its launch in 2000, and now boasts over 1 million users worldwide.
