The growing availability of factory refurbished HDTVs is creating an opportunity for Power -Limited Technicians and Structured Wiring pros to regain the profit margins of several years ago. In the past, a Structured Wiring professional might see as much as $2500 of margin dollars solely from a big screen TV. That number can be more like $250 today. Factory refurbished and warranted products are beginning to change that trend back to the way it used to be.

Several manufacturers, including Panasonic, RCA and most notably Toshiba, have started selling their `B` Goods in the US via alternative channels. These goods can be found at online retail web sites for up to 70% off new and they still carry factory warranties and enjoy factory support. A simple Google search of 'Refurbished HDTV' will yield a handful of these emerging retailers and their current model year inventory. Many installation professionals are now recommending refurbished goods to their clients as a way to get into a larger TV, save some money and make a few more dollars at the same time.

Clients are receving the change well, too. They get more bang for the buck which allows them to spread more quality over their entire system.
