Onkyo Delivers Sleek Home Theater Package Designed to Complement Flat Panel Displays

The Onkyo HT-L970 home theater system combines a powerful A/V receiver, DVD changer, and speakers designed for flat screen video.

UPPER SADDLE RIVER, NJ (2/14/05) - Onkyo has introduced the HT -L970, a high quality and attractive home theater system that adds stunning DVD video and multichannel surround sound to any video display in minutes. The system consists of a full featured 6.1 channel surround receiver, progressive -scan DVD changer, 150 -Watt powered subwoofer, and six stylish extruded aluminum speakers designed to complement modern flat panel and projection video displays. The 6.1 -channel SKS -HT240 speaker and subwoofer system is also available separately for use with other home theater electronics.

"The new plasma and LCD display technologies are affecting the form and function of companion audio components and speakers," said Onkyo product and marketing manager Don Milks. "The higher picture quality and slender styling of these new video systems is triggering a demand for audio components that are a match both in terms of aesthetics and performance expectations."

The centerpiece of the HT -L970 is the company's TX -LR552 A/V receiver, which combines six channels of digital amplification, complete 6.1 -channel processing, and a comprehensive array of inputs and outputs into a chassis that is under 4 -inches high. Each of the receiver's six amplification channels is capable of delivering 65 watts of power into six ohms, thanks to Onkyo's exclusive digital amplifier technology.

The receiver includes connectivity and processing that make it compatible with a wide range of additional equipment and display devices. It features processing for Dolby Digital EX, DTS -ES, DTS 96/24, and even Dolby ProLogic IIx for generating 6.1 -channel surround sound from two or 5.1 -channel sources. It has inputs for three A/V and two audio components, including three assignable digital inputs. There are two component video inputs and one output, and upconversion of composite and s -video signals to component for simplified connectivity to display devices. The unit also features a built -in FM/AM tuner with 40 presets.

The SKS -HT240 speaker system includes six extruded aluminum, full range loudspeakers that can be mounted on walls, bookshelves, or on optional AS -240 speaker stands. The front left and right speakers each have a pair of 3 -1/8 inch woofers flanking a 1 -inch balanced dome tweeter, while the center channel features the same arrangement in a horizontal configuration for mounting above or below a display. There three surround speakers each employ the same drivers as the front channels, but using only a single woofer for a smaller cabinet. All of the speakers are magnetically shielded to prevent interference with video displays. The 150 -watt powered subwoofer features an 8 -inch cone in a ported enclosure, and is capable of linear bass reproduction to 27 Hz for an immersing sound experience.

The included DV -CP702 DVD changer features a six -disc carousel, with a unique blue -illuminated tray light for disc recognition, in an ultra -thin, 3 -1/2 inch tall housing. It features 192 -kHz/24 -bit audio DACs with Onkyo's Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry (VLSC) for smoother, more detailed analog output. The company's exclusive Direct Digital Path ensures maximum integrity of Dolby Digital, DTS and PCM audio signals to the rear -panel optical and coaxial digital outputs. The player is fully compatible with DVD, DVD -R/RW, CD, JPEG Picture CD, and CD -R/RWs encoded with MP3 or WMA files.

All of the components in the Onkyo HT -L970 home theater package come in a sleek titanium and silver finish. The HT -L970 is now available with a suggested retail price of $1000. The included SKS -HT240 speaker system can also be purchased separately at a suggested retail price of $500.

Yale Real Living™ Assure Lock™ with Bluetooth

The new Yale Real Living™ Assure Lock™ with Bluetooth replaces conventional keys with digital keys accessed through the Yale Digital Keys app for Android and iOS mobile devices, and through an app for the new Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch. The Yale app allows homeowners to unlock doors, send keys to others, control when others have access, get a message when someone enters, and revoke a digital key at any time. Unlocking the deadbolt couldn't be simpler, whether using the Samsung Gear S2 or a smartphone. With the new Samsung Gear S2, touch the watch app to activate the digital key, then touch the lock screen to unlock the deadbolt. With a smartphone, Yale's "Twist and Go" technology allows the user to hold the phone vertically when approaching the door, then twist it 90 degrees to unlock the deadbolt. Homeowners can also unlock the deadbolt using its capacitive touchscreen and a four- to eight-digit code.
