Patent purchase allows company to further explore and maximize the AVC technology
NEWMARKET, NH., Feb. 1, 2005 − Russound, the leader in multiroom audio and video products for the residential market announced today it has acquired the amplified volume control (AVC) patent from Sonance. By acquiring the rights to AVC, US Patent No. 6,389,139, Russound will now explore and maximize the AVC product offering to its fullest potential. Making AVC available to other partners via licensing will help bring about a larger market for this exciting product category.
Russound Vice President Joe Brouillet commented, "over the past years, amplified volume control products have been a favorite among custom installers because of its simplicity, ease of installation and attractive price point in the multiroom audio market. As one of the early champions of AVC, Russound has been a major contributor to its popularity and successful marketplace."
Russound resellers and other manufacturers already utilizing the AVC technology will also benefit from the acquisition. "Its an exciting time for Russound to be able to offer other manufacturers licenses for the AVC technology and open up the multiroom audio market even further" stated Jeff Kussard, Russound vice president of strategic development.
Russound plans to expand the AVC technology product offerings in the second half of the year and will be communicating its progress with future announcements.
