Sennheiser Debuts Wireless Headphone Duo

Two New Wireless Models Blend Sonics, Freedom of Movement, and Value as Never Before

Old Lyme, Connecticut, January 6, 2005 - Sennheiser Electronic Corporation, the US subsidiary of the German firm whose name has been synonymous with high -fidelity headphones for nearly a half -century, has introduced its latest wireless headphone products. Sennheiser's new RS 130, 2005 CES Innovations Award Honoree, and RS 140 systems share advanced new FM radio -frequency communications for unexcelled freedom of movement throughout the house, even through floors and walls. An integrated charger within the base -station keeps the headsets freshly charged without user intervention beyond returning to base when not in use. They also share true affordability, making high -performance wireless listening more accessible than ever before.

The RS 130 design is an open -backed headphone optimized for TV -sound and home -theater reproduction as well as music listening, while the RS 140 is a closed -back system engineered for maximum output on music and TV -audio alike, with unique features to enhance intelligibility. The new Sennheiser base -station/chargers are similar, utilizing high -performance 900 MHz wireless transmission from base -station to headphone that delivers impressive signal -to -noise performance for superb high -fidelity playback. The transmitters incorporate Sennheiser's Intelligent Auto Tuning system, which automatically chooses the best of three available base -to -headset "channels" for low -distortion, noise -free operation, and even recalls the optimum choice when resuming from power -off for fast, glitch -free turn -on.

Both base stations incorporate on -hook charging for their headsets' integral NiMH batteries, automatically refreshing these memory -effect -immune cells whenever they are replaced on their holders.

The Sennheiser RS 140 wireless headphone system exploits a unique, Sennheiser -designed switchable compression system that delivers enhanced intelligibility on dialog and announcers, as well as a new balance control for independent left/right -channel level adjustment. Combined with their closed -back design renders impressive maximum output capability of 110 dB, and improved signal -to -noise performance, these make the RS 140 system an outstanding choice for TV viewing by consumers who demand true audio quality, including those who are hearing impaired. These features also ensure that the RS 140 will find favor for wireless monitoring by pros such as club DJs.

The RS 130 relies on the latest evolution of Sennheiser's famed "Open -Aire" headphone design to achieve uniquely natural, lifelike sound on music, film and TV audio alike. By incorporating SRS Headphone, the RS 130 offers virtual surround sound for a truly enveloping listening experience and sets a new standard in three -dimensional private listening. SRS Headphone is compatible with any non -encoded, 2 -channel audio source simplifying connectivity for the consumer.

Both new Sennheisers boast impressive battery life from a single full charge: up to 23 hours for the RS 140 and 22 hours for the RS 130. Both also promise remarkably comfortable, long -term wearing, thanks to careful ergonomic engineering and lightweight (275 and 280 grams) designs.
