Steinway & Sons Features Concertino in Factory Selection Room

Milford, Conn., September 30, 2004 - Performance spaces worldwide are graced with pianos from Steinway & Sons. The sound produced by these extraordinary instruments rolls out over the audience and creates an experience that will last a lifetime.

But few performers have an opportunity to realize how the music sounds from the stages of the great performance spaces populated by the musicians who sit at these Steinways.

Now, Steinway & Sons has formed a partnership with SH! Acoustics of Milford, Connecticut, to include their revolutionary Concertino™ system at the Steinway & Sons Factory Selection Room in New York City.

So now, in a rehearsal environment featuring Concertino's electro -acoustic enhancement technology, any player can sit at a Steinway and hear what the music would sound like in any venue they've experienced as an audience member.

Designed by Steve Haas, a well -known and respected acoustical technician, Concertino employs cutting -edge computer technology to replicate the precise sound reflection patterns or world -renown concert halls, intimate spaces or even majestic cathedrals -all in the comfort of a private rehearsal space.

'We utilize a virtually unlimited number of pre -set room environments available to supply early sound reflections, reverberant energy and bass warmth," says Haas, Concertino's mastermind.

"Concertino processes this complex digital information, turns it back into sound, and then delivers it back to the space through a matrix of speakers concealed throughout the room."

The result has been described by an audience member as being 'beyond imagination."

"When I first heard that description of Concertino, I thought it was an accurate response, because you have to experience what Concertino does to appreciate it. And with the fullness and timbre of a Steinway piano in the Factory Selection Room, it is possible to imagine oneself performing anywhere."

In addition to being partnered with Steinway & Sons there, Concertino's mid -town Manhattan studio is available for demonstrations -though you might have to schedule it around the world -class artists who are increasingly interested in trying Concertino out for themselves.
