Boston Acoustics Introduces Four -Model Edition of Popular, Bookshelf -Size CR Speakers

Versatile, Compact and Affordable, New CR77, CR67, CR57 and CRC7 Speakers Bring The Boston Sound™ Everywhere Listeners Want It

CEDIA EXPO, Indianapolis, Sept. 10, 2004 - Boston Acoustics, Inc. (NASDAQ: BOSA), a premier manufacturer of high -performance audio solutions for home entertainment, automobiles and personal desktop audio systems, introduces four new CR Series Speakers at the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) Expo 2004, beginning today in Indianapolis.

The four new CR Speakers - Models CR77, CR67, CR57 and the CRC7 Center Channel - include refinements that further improve the CR Series' already impressive performance/value ratio. The new models, like earlier CR Speakers, solve the puzzle of achieving big -speaker performance in small enclosures.

The result - amazing bass and wide dispersion in a compact package. To achieve this, the speakers employ some of the most advanced technologies originally developed for Boston Acoustics' acclaimed VR Series Loudspeakers. So even though they are among Boston Acoustics' most affordably priced speakers, the new CR models offer outstanding performance in delivering The Boston Sound™, famed for its exceptional musical accuracy.

The new CR Speakers are an ideal choice for listening to stereo music or as elements of surround sound Home Theater systems. Engineered to overwhelm listeners' ears, not their rooms' décor, they're ideal for use on bookshelves, stands or mounted on the wall. They're also refreshingly affordable, with the four new speakers available in prices ranging from $180 to $350 each.

The models also feature newly designed woofers for even better bass than previous CR Speakers. Other enhancements include attractive updated styling, a new metal grille with rotating logo, compatibility with an optional CRB flexible mounting bracket, and keyhole mounts on the back panel. The CRC7 Center Speaker can be wall -mounted horizontally or vertically, making it an affordable on -wall speaker for use with Plasma and LCD TVs.

Like its predecessors, the new CR Speakers are all full -range, two -way systems. The CR77 features a 6 -inch co -polymer Deep Channel Design™ (DCD™) woofer that delivers extended excursion with increased bass response, and a one -inch Kortec® soft -dome tweeter that delivers a smooth, natural high -frequency response. The woofer's unique coaxial phase plug draws heat away from the voice coil, increasing power handling, and the rigid, internally braced CR cabinet delivers clean sound. Proprietary MagnaGuard® magnetic shielding prevents interference with video signals, allowing the speaker to be placed near monitors and TVs.

The CR67 features a 5 -1/4 -inch co -polymer woofer with exceptional bass response, and a 3/4 -inch soft -dome tweeter that delivers a smooth, natural high -frequency response. The woofer's unique coaxial phase plug draws heat away from the voice coil, increasing power handling, and the rigid, internally braced CR cabinet delivers clean sound. MagnaGuard® magnetic shielding prevents interference with video signals, allowing the speaker's placement near monitors and TVs.

The CR57 features a 4 -1/2 -inch co -polymer woofer with a wide frequency response, and a 3/4 -inch soft -dome tweeter that delivers a smooth, natural high -frequency response. The woofer's unique coaxial phase plug draws heat away from the voice coil, increasing power handling; and the rigid, internally braced CR cabinet delivers clean sound. MagnaGuard® magnetic shielding prevents interference with video signals, allowing the speaker's placement near monitors and TVs.

The center -channel CRC7 features dual 4 -1/2 -inch mid/bass drivers that deliver extended excursion with increased bass response, and a one -inch Kortec® soft -dome tweeter that delivers a smooth, natural high -frequency response. The active driver's unique coaxial phase plug draws heat away from the voice coil, increasing power handling, while the passive driver assists in bass reinforcement. The rigid, internally braced CR cabinet delivers clean sound.

CR Speaker listeners also enjoy The Boston Sound™, an acclaimed feature of all Boston Acoustics speaker systems that reproduces music and movie sound with exceptional accuracy. The Boston Sound delivers the music and movie effects that artists intend with a purely neutral tonal consistency that remains the same for all Boston Acoustics speakers, including the new CR models, no matter how many or variously they may be mounted.

The CR77and CR67 Speakers are available in white or black at suggested prices of $350 and $250 each, respectively. The CR57 and CRC7 are available in white or black at suggested prices of $180 and $220 each, respectively.

The new CR Speakers are available in September from authorized Boston Acoustics dealers, and can be seen with Boston Acoustics' other outstanding products in Booth 630, Indiana Convention Center, during CEDIA EXPO.
