SONANCE® EXPANDS SPEAKER LINES TO INCLUDE CABINET MODELS

Popular Lines Augmented with Acoustically-Matched Alternatives

INDIANAPOLIS, September 8, 2004 - In a significant expansion of its enclosed cabinet loudspeaker products, Sonance, the leader in architectural audio, today introduced three speakers which have "voice" and acoustic qualities matching three of Sonance's most popular in -wall home theater and stereo models. Designed for customers who cannot use or do not want in -wall speakers, the new cabinet models are the Cinema Ultra II® LCR and Cinema Select® LCR models and a new Symphony® Cabinet speaker. All three models are all available in a variety of wood grain finishes.

"Our mission has always been, and continues to be, to provide dealers and customers with products that offer maximum flexibility when it comes to meeting end -user needs," said Mitch Witten, Sonance Vice President of Sales & Marketing. "The new speakers will allow dealers to mix -and -match in -wall and cabinet speakers in one system while maintaining the precise character and quality of 'the Sonance sound'. This now gives our dealers the ultimate in flexibility to configure acoustically balanced systems for their customers."

Top -of -the -Line Cinema Ultra II LCR
For listeners wanting THX Ultra 2 certified performance, the Sonance Cinema Ultra II LCR cabinet speaker delivers the same THX -certified cinema level performance as the company's award -winning in -wall models. Like their in -wall counterparts, the Cinema Ultra II LCR cabinets offer a rotatable midrange/tweeter array that allows the speaker to be placed horizontally, an important feature for center channel applications. Thick 1" MDF baffle and back panels that reduce resonance are used in the cabinet speaker. The Cinema Ultra II LCR cabinet can be used independently from the Cinema Ultra II LCR in -walls or the two can be mixed together to make a complete system.

Cinema Select LCR Cabinet
The Cinema Select LCR Cabinet offers THX Select -certified performance to listeners with smaller rooms (less than 2,000 cubic feet). Sharing the same 6.5 -inch carbon fiber cone woofer and 1" Ferrofluid -cooled silk dome tweeter as its in -wall counterpart, the Cinema Select LCR Cabinet also has a 1" MDF baffle that reduces resonance and a cast aluminum woofer basket that maintains precise alignment of the cone and voice coil.
In both the Cinema Select LCR and Symphony Cabinet speakers, the tweeters are equipped with an acoustic back chamber that provides a smoother sound and improves the high -frequency performance.

The Cinema Ultra II and Cinema Select LCR speakers offer tweeter level and boundary compensation controls to allow users to fine -tune their speaker's for maximum performance, even when the speakers are placed within other types of enclosures such as an entertainment center, or on top of large -screen televisions.

All of Sonance's new cabinet speakers are engineered to deliver the same superior sonic performance as their in -wall counterparts. All use an enclosure made from an exclusive laminate of ½" MDF and ½" particle board. This enclosure material combines the superior stiffness and low resonance characteristics of MDF with the superior damping characteristics of particle board, resulting in an enclosure that is more acoustically 'inert' than ones made from more conventional materials. These enclosures are also extensively braced to maximize stiffness and further reduce resonance.
