Digital Audio: The Next Hot Category
D&H sees digital sound as an up -and -coming opportunity for the custom installer. Just as D&H supported the emergence of digital video and specialty editing in 2003 (adding manufacturers such as Avid, Canopus, and in 2004,Adobeit has identified several hot sub -categories in the digital audio arena. The distributor has added the following vendors and categories in 2004:
· Satellite Radio: D&H now offers XM and Sirius satellite radio systems from JVC, Audiovox, XACT Communications and Russound, which let users select from more than 100 digital radio channels. These versatile, compact systems can be installed in the home or car, or can remain portable.
· Electronic Audio:
M -Audio is a new D&H vendor offering state of the art keyboards, amplifiers, speakers, audio cards, microphones and music software for musicians and audio professionals
Pacific Digital: D&H has added the DrumXtreme electronic drum systems from this vendor of storage and multimedia solutions.
Creative: D&H has expanded its Creative agreement to include the vendor`s Prodikeys multimedia MIDI keyboards and E -MU digital audio software .
· Wireless media adapters let users transfer PC -based music and pictures to their home entertainment networks without running cables. E.g., D&H offers the Linksys Wireless -B products (the WMA11B media adapter and WMLS11B Music System), Omnifi`s media streaming products, D -Link`s DSM -320 high speed media player, Actiontec`s DMP01100001 wireless digital media player, SMC's WMRAG, and Netgear`s MP 101NA wireless digital music player.
D -Link's DSM -320 has been a top performer; supply is currently trying to catch up to demand.
