Siemon 10G 6 UTP Solution Leads the Market with 10GBASE -T Applications Assurance

Companies across the globe are seeking increased bandwidth capability and Siemon is experiencing significant demand for their 10G cabling solution.

Watertown, CT - Companies across the globe are seeking increased bandwidth capability and Siemon is experiencing significant demand for their 10G cabling solution.

Siemon was the first to offer a complete line of 10G products in January of 2003. DuPont is one of many global companies who specify Siemon's 10G 6 UTP Cabling System as part of their network infrastructure. "The cabling system is a strategic part of our network which is critical to our research success. We specify Siemon's 10G 6 UTP solution to meet the demand for increasing bandwidth needs in support of research and development. The Siemon 10G 6 systems being installed today will position us to support 10GBASE -T in the future," says Jordan Goldberg, Supervisor of Network Services at the DuPont Experimental Station, in Wilmington, DE.

Siemon's existing suite of high performance 10G ip cabling solutions provide guaranteed applications assurance for 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GBASE -T). This application assurance is based upon a worst case 4 connector, 100 meter channel model. Siemon's 10G 6 UTP solution is part of a complete solution set which also includes a 10G 6 screened system, its category 7/class F TERA system and its XGLO fiber 50 micron, laser optimized fiber solution.

"Circumstances today are similar to when Siemon introduced the world's first category 6 products in 1998," says Robert Carlson, VP of Global Marketing "The cat 6 industry standard was in draft form, no applications existed to utilize category 6 and there was no field test capabilities.
Because of the advanced capabilities of the Siemon lab and our extensive industry standards participation, Siemon provided guaranteed assurance and compliance to the final category 6 standard long before it was ratified.
Today, a standard for 10GBASE -T is being developed by the 802.3an task force, new field testers are emerging and once again Siemon is providing guaranteed applications assurance to this future standard. Because of this, end -users can install a 10G ip cabling system today and not have to wait for the standards to catch up with technology that exists today."

John Siemon, Siemon's Chief Technology Officer adds, "Over the past 10 years, the demand for bandwidth has increased exponentially. Ethernet applications have evolved from 10BASE -T, 100BASE -T, 1000BASE -T and now 10GBASE -T. Memory and processing capacity at the chip level are known to double every 18 months. Networking equipment and the cabling infrastructure must be capable of keeping pace with this rate of change.
For these reasons and others including the growing number of IP -based applications, it is only a matter of time before the bandwidth of a 10G cabling system will be needed."

The cabling system is the most difficult element of the network to upgrade and is expected to last at least 10 years - more than twice the life cycle of active network electronics. A cabling system is the foundation on which the entire network is built yet it represents only 5% of the total network investment. Therefore, when planning a new or upgraded network, the best investment is in a high quality, high performing cabling system, such as Siemon's 10G ip solution, that will stand the test of time by providing a problem -free service life and future applications assurance.
