ICIA Releases Q1 2004 Buying Trends for AV Market

InfoComm iQ Trend Report tracks over 50,000 buyer searches per month

FAIRFAX, VA, May 12, 2004 - The International Communications Industries Association, Inc.® (ICIA®) has released the first quarterly InfoComm iQ Trend Report, which tracks the research data of more than 50,000 AV product buyers, designers and resellers each month. The InfoComm iQ Trend Report is based on real data compiled from over 1,500,000 unique online sessions and over 4,250,000 page views in ICIA's massive iQ product database in the past 12 months. The comprehensive report employs a three -tier structure covering 25 first -tier product categories and more than 1,450 second - and third -tier product categories.

"The Trend Report provides valuable market intelligence to AV manufacturers, dealers, integrators, design consultants and product marketing executives," said Randal A. Lemke, Ph.D., Executive Director of ICIA "Subscribers can learn which product categories are drawing increasing interest among buyers or trending downward in each quarter - so they can be nimble in shifting their production and marketing strategies."

The Q1 2004 report shows that projectors; cameras, camcorders and support equipment; and displays and monitors are the most popular first -tier product categories. Looking at trends for first -tier product categories over the last twelve months, audio and video conferencing equipment has increased in importance, while projectors; cameras, camcorders and support equipment; and video editing and production have decreased in relative importance. There were 14,000+ keyword searches for 6,100+ keywords in the iQ database in March 2004. The three most searched keywords were Projectors, Microphones and Screens.

The report is based on data of audiovisual (AV) product information from 467 manufacturers. Currently, the iQ catalogs average around 150,000 unique sessions by more than 60,000 uniquely different users per month. Reports are delivered quarterly to subscribers' e -mail boxes as easily read PDF files. The cost of an annual subscription is $1,000 for ICIA members and $1,400 for non -members.
