First Annual AV Communications Excellence Awards Banquet Celebrates the Achievements of AV Professionals
ATLANTA, June 9, 2004 - The International Communications Industries Association, Inc.® (ICIA®) presented its inaugural Volunteer of the Year Award to Christopher T. Miller at the first annual AV Communications Excellence Awards Banquet, which took place on June 8 during InfoComm 04 Week at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. Co -sponsored by ARCHI -TECH magazine and CMP Information's Rental & Staging Systems and Systems Contractor News magazines, the professionally produced, ticketed dinner event honored key professionals and companies in the AV communications industry.
Chris Miller began his career working in both radio broadcasting and television production in 1974. In 1980, he started Midwest Video Productions, a facility that produced and directed commercials, religious programs, music videos, and national sporting events.
In 1986, Miller and Tom Roberts formed AFX Broadcasting, which merged with Fairview Audio Visual Company in 1989. Miller became Chief Executive Officer of the newly formed company, Fairview -AFX, Inc. During the same period, he was a partner of TESI, a Tulsa -based pro -video dealership and duplication company.
MCSi acquired the assets of Fairview -AFX, Inc. in 2000, and Miller became Co -President of the South Central Region. He departed MCSi to focus on several business ventures, including Fairview Investments, LLC, a residential land and contracting company, and M & R Partnership, a commercial real estate holding company.
During his industry tenure, Miller served as President of Professional Systems Network, Inc. (PSNI), a national integration network of audio -visual and broadcast integration companies. He has served as the ICIA Secretary -Treasurer, President and Chairman. He is currently Executive Director of PSNI and President of the International Communication Industries Foundation (ICIF) focused on workforce development, industry awareness, market intelligence, and industry scholarships. Miller worked for years with the Tulsa Public Schools Adopt -A -School program and with various charitable programs.
ICIA's Volunteer of the Year Award, presented for the first time in 2004, recognizes an exceptional level of volunteerism to the association.
The AV Communications Excellence Awards Banquet was a high -profile event at InfoComm 04, allowing AV professionals to celebrate the successes of leaders and pioneers in the industry. Held following the Manufacturers Industry Forum and Opening Welcome Reception, the banquet recognized outstanding individuals and products in the audiovisual industry.
