WEST KINGSTON, R.I. - June 21, 2004 - American Power Conversion (Nasdaq: APCC) (APC) today announced a new Audio/Video (A/V) Surge Protection line that protects audio and video components in the home from the dangers of power surges, spikes and lightning. The new line includes four essential entry -level A/V Surge Protectors, as well as a two more advanced Premium A/V Surge Protectors. The Premium line includes a model with a surge protected video splitter. This innovation, unique in the market, gives users the ability to protect and split the signal from two separate cable devices. All six A/V Surge Protectors combine a revolutionary design with enhanced and innovative features at a highly competitive price.

Innovative features of the APC A/V Surge Protection line include:

• Removable cord management guide keeps cords neat and organized;

• A 180 -degree rotating cord offers flexibility in positioning the surge protector and routing power cords, and;

The four new entry -level APC A/V Surge Protectors offer reliable power protection for A/V components such as TVs, gaming consoles, and stereo equipment. The first Essential surge unit offers six power -protected outlets, a six -foot power cord, and safety shutters. Two other models have seven power -protected outlets including wide spacing for one transformer block plug. They also have safety caps and one model has coaxial data line protection and a six foot power cord. The fourth model offers of eight protected outlets with wide spacing for four transformer style block plugs. Two of the outlets are always -on outlets for electronics requiring constant power. This unit offers plug activated safety shutters, an eight -foot power cord, telephone and coax dataline surge protection. The A/V Surge Protector line has a lifetime product warranty and lifetime equipment protection policy (EPP) up to $50,000.

APC's new Premium A/V Surge Protectors, the most feature rich units in the line, offer premium protection for precision A/V components and enhanced fidelity for a home theater system. These components include TVs, flat panel displays, surround sound systems, DVD players, digital video recorders (DVRs), satellite dishes, and more. Both units offer eleven power outlets including six transformer block plug spaces with three always -on, a ten foot cord, safety shutters, telephone and coax dataline surge protection. The top of line Premium A/V Surge Protector also is one of the only surge protectors to include a surge -protected video splitter designed specifically for people using picture in picture or having the need to send signals to two receivers (i.e., DVRs). APC's Premium A/V Surge Protectors have a lifetime product warranty and $100,000 EPP.
