ITRAN and RENESAS will demonstrate a PLC and Wireless combo system for Home Automation

Beer -Sheva, ISRAEL - April 27, 2004 - ITRAN Communications, Ltd. (a leading provider of power line communication modem chips) and Renesas Technology America, Inc. (the result of HITACHI SC and MITSUBISHI SC merger, which created the 3rd largest semiconductor company in the world), will share a booth at the upcoming Connections 2004 show (May 5 -7, Wyndham Anatole, Dallas TX), in which the companies will jointly demonstrate a low -cost PLC and wireless home automation platform. The demonstrated platform, titled `Powering the Smart Home`, illustrates how PLC network is seamlessly tied to a wireless network, utilizing the benefits of both and offering optimized performance.

The combo platform is based on ITRAN'S high performance IT800 narrowband PLC modem technology combined with Renesas' M16C microcontroller core. The IT800 technology and the M16C microcontroller allow manufacturers to create small, intelligent devices that can communicate with each other in a secure and robust manner. Products built using this technology can also be easily IP -enabled for Internet connectivity

"This promising PLC and wireless combo approach for home automation, allows interactions between appliances, temperature sensors, lights, security sensors and other typical household devices and enables control via the Internet and handheld devices", said Avner Matmor, ITRAN'S CEO. "The technologies offered by ITRAN and Renesas are of the kind that can really power the smart home and make it happen".

ELK Products -C1M1 Dual-Path Alarm Communicators with Remote Services

C1M1 offers a truly significant reduction in transmission time in comparison to other communicators that rely on dial capture or data bus decoding. This can result in quicker response time to emergency situations which could save lives and assets. By providing both IP and cellular pathways, C1M1 provides the reliability installers are looking for in an alarm communicator. C1M1 eliminates port forwarding and extra fees for remote access. Installers can remotely upload/download programming changes to M1 controls over IP or cellular using ElkRP2. Consumers can control the M1 remotely via the free ElkLink mobile app and web portal, as well as eKeypad and M1 Touch Pro apps. Other IP-based software and interface partners can connect to the M1 control over the local network through C1M1. C1M1 also provides email/text notifications for arm, disarm, and alarm events. ELK-C1M14GSM supports GSM (AT&T/T-Mobile) networks and ELK-C1M1CDMA supports CDMA (Verizon) networks.
