Industry professionals are invited to Dallas meeting to learn about the HomePlug Alliance's exciting technology roadmap and achievements
SAN RAMON, Calif., April 20, 2004 - HomePlug Powerline Alliance, Inc., an industry consortium that creates specifications for high -speed powerline networking products and services, today announced the election of a new slate of officers with deep experience in technology, consumer products and retail markets. Leading the slate are Oleg Logvinov as president and Pete Griffin as chairman of the board.
"The HomePlug 1.0 specification is the only globally recognized standard for high -speed in -home networking over powerlines. Today, HomePlug certified products are shipping in volume throughout North America, Europe and Asia," said Logvinov. "During 2004, the Alliance is completing development of the next -generation standard, HomePlug AV, which is built from the ground up to support high bandwidth entertainment applications, such as HDTV and home theater."
Logvinov succeeds Peter Kempf, vice president of Marketing Wireless Data & Networking Components, Conexant Systems Inc. Kempf led the Alliance through significant achievements including expansion of HomePlug 1.0 products visibility and planning for the new HomePlug AV specification, and continues to be active on the HomePlug Board of Directors.
In addition to Logvinov and Griffin, the newly announced HomePlug Powerline Alliance officers are as follows:
· Vice President: Carl Mansfield, senior manager, multimedia communications at Sharp Labs
· Treasurer: Christian Joly, senior vice president of PowerAV and Access Business Units at Intellon Corporation
· Secretary: Jorge Blasco Claret, CEO of DS2.
"Using existing powerlines and power outlets, HomePlug products make networks much easier to install than running dedicated cable. HomePlug networking can also provide a convenient backbone for wireless access points," said Pete Griffin. "With HomePlug AV, consumer electronics companies will have a user -friendly solution for sharing high -bandwidth entertainment content throughout the home."
Upcoming Member Meeting and Open House
The HomePlug Powerline Alliance will host a member meeting, open house and reception on Tuesday, May 4, 2004 in Dallas, Texas at the Wyndham Anatole Hotel, just prior to the CONNECTIONS™ industry conference. This meeting is an opportunity to learn the latest information about the HomePlug Alliance and hear about the growing product applications for HomePlug 1.0 networking, the exciting home entertainment capabilities of HomePlug AV, and HomePlug's plans for a new standard for broadband over powerline (BPL) access applications. Non -members are invited to register via the homeplug.org web site and attend the Open House and Reception sessions.
