D&H LAUNCHES DEDICATED DIGITAL CONVERGENCE MICRO -SITE ON DANDH.COM
HARRISBURG, PA, March 22, 2004 - Leading digital convergence distributor D&H Distributing has launched a dedicated micro -site on www.dandh.com for CE retailers, A/V installers, security/home automation resellers and IT resellers who want to prepare to enter this new market.
The "Convergence at D&H" web site section includes up -to -the -minute industry news and reports, white papers on digital convergence technologies, training and education information, and links to vendors and industry associations. It is designed to serve as a one -stop destination where D&H`s dealers and resellers can educate themselves on digital convergence technologies, market dynamics and business strategies. D&H customers can access the site at www.dandh.com.
"Whether you're a CE dealer, a retailer or a custom installer, you're going to need an efficient resource to help define exactly what this opportunity means for your business. That's the best way to plot a course of action in entering the market. We're doing that homework for people," said Dan Schwab, vice president of marketing for D&H. "We want to streamline the process by which companies get educated and start making money in this area. The site will help our customers from divergent arenas grow to accommodate the technological shift we're all seeing."
Preparing a New Market Strategy
Solution providers can use the market insight collected on the "Convergence at D&H" site to decide which convergence products are most complementary to their current offerings. The site can help dealers, retailers and others understand how converged solutions (many of which originated in the networking arena) fit into the home networking or automation environments, or unfamiliar territories such as small business. Such foresight is critical to an effective introduction into this still -evolving market.
The site offers detailed reports and articles on different digital technologies penned by industry experts, including materials from a range of vendors and media (not solely D&H partners). Content will be constantly updated as new information becomes available and as market indicators change.
Sections will include a certification and training menu (including info on the new HTI+ home technology certification), plus links to industry associations such as CEDIA (the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association) and CompTIA (the Computer Technology Industry Association), and to mini -sites from convergence vendors. Promotions on convergence products will be featured monthly.
One example of the site's content: "Network Essentials for Small Businesses: A Planning Guide," a primer from Cisco Systems that answers basic questions about SMB networking. Information will cross all areas of digital convergence, from home networking to broadband gaming to consumer electronics.
"We've been concentrating on audio visual products and adding more digital solutions, including computer products, as time goes by. D&H has provided us with a good amount of cross -market expertise for this purpose," said Lee Hartman, Jr., president of Lee Hartman & Sons, a Roanoke, VA, dealer. "Now they're gathering expertise from all over the industry and basically putting it at our fingertips. A site like this will make it easier for me to decide which new products fit my business model, and it gives my staff more information to help go out there and make the sale."
