Form Fit Announces Merger with Extreme Seating

Two local seating manufacuters combine expertise in complimentary areas. Products range from automotive aftermarket, conversions, transit and SUV`s to home theatre products.

Summit Seating, Inc. has been formed through the merger of two seating industry manufacturers, resulting in a company well poised to provide products and services to the transportation and home theatre markets. The new company brings industry veterans together with complimentary product lineups, creating an extremely strong design, engineering, and sales team.

According to Summit's president, Ray Fink, "The combination of Extreme Seating's engineering and design capabilities with Form Fit's sales and marketing penetration in the van conversion, pick -up truck, SUV and mass transit seating markets, as well as the home theatre market, make Summit Seating a major player who is able to address quality design and adherence to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. Additionally, the two companies previously excelled in somewhat different product types: Extreme had major emphasis in leather and Form Fit in fabric seating products. Their combination brings a complete product line from one company available to several seating markets.
David Slater, previous owner of Extreme Seating, will continue on as Vice President of Development, responsible for overall plant management and product design. With over 25 years of seating industry experience, he is recognized as a premier designer. Other company officials include Sue Fink, Executive Vice President and Controller and Dagney J. Slater, supervisor of the cutting and sewing departments.
According to Fink, "All signs point to a turn -around year for van, pick -up truck and SUV furniture manufacturers, as evidenced by the attendees at the recently concluded Detroit Auto Show. Many envision a 25% increase in this market this coming year. In addition to the automotive industry, we've also invested in the mass transit segment, and recently became the only company that has passed all the government regulations (FMVSS 207, 210 and 225) for the Daimler -Chrysler Freightliner Sprinter vehicles."
Summit Seating occupies manufacturing space at the former Form Fit complex, located on the south side of Elkhart, Indiana.
