The JBL K2 S9800: Elegant Design, Unsurpassed Sound Quality
JBL's internationally acclaimed, perfectionist K2 S9800 loudspeaker is designed entirely without compromise to provide the ultimate in sound quality. Created from the ground up to be JBL's finest loudspeaker, the K2 S9800 delivers a remarkably faithful reproduction of the original performance.
Six K2 S9800 loudspeakers are used in the DTS exhibit, as the left -, center - and right -front channels, and the left -, center - and right -rear surround channels.
The K2 S9800 features a 435Be beryllium midrange compression driver and 045Be ultrahigh -frequency beryllium compression driver, both mated to specially designed horns made from SonoGlass™, a highly dense resin material that can be precisely molded in an optimum configuration for an accurate, natural midrange and smooth high frequencies, along with wide dispersion.
A 15 -inch Aquaplas® -treated -cone woofer with a massive 5.7 -pound Alnico magnet complements the midrange and high -frequency drivers. This advanced -technology woofer features refinements such as a heavy -duty edge -wound aluminum ribbon voice coil utilizing JBL's Symmetrical Field Geometry™ (SFG™) circuit, vented polepieces, a die -cast aluminum frame, and inverted dual spiders (the flexible collars that surround the apex of the cone and keep the voice coil centered), for high -power -handling capability with minimum distortion.
Additional enhancements include premium -grade crossover components, plus Bi -Amp, LF Damping and HF Level switches that enable the speaker's response to be tailored to the room, the listener's preference and the amplification used, and many additional refinements.
The result is sonic performance that is nothing less than astonishing. Movie soundtracks and music are conveyed with true -to -life scale, weight and presence, and, thanks to the loudspeaker's extremely high 94dB efficiency, dynamic response is superb, from whisper -quiet dialogue and musical passages to the all -out power of the most intense movie action scenes or a hard rock band. Clarity and resolution are truly without equal, rendering the most subtle musical nuances and low -level background ambient sounds with remarkable transparency. The K2 S9800 brings out every sonic detail from the highest resolution sources available, such as DTS -encoded movie and music discs, and faithfully reproduces the width, depth and height of the sonic environment present on the original recording with precise image placement and tonal balance.
The JBL K2 S9800 loudspeaker is available in a medium -metallic gray or a dark -gray finish. Both finishes are high gloss. The curved trim panel is high -gloss black, with a variety of optional wood finishes available. The K2 S9800 is sold in the U.S. exclusively through selected JBL dealers at a suggested retail price of $25,000 per pair.
