End-to-End, FIPS 140-2 WLAN Security Solution Now Available ... 3e Technologies International's Cryptographic Client Software Approved for DoD Use

Rockville, MD, (January 12, 2004) - 3e Technologies International (3eTI), a leader in highly secure wireless networking, announced that its 3e -010F Crypto Client Software is FIPS 140 -2 Level 1 Validated™. The FIPS Validation process ensures compliance with both U.S. and Canadian Government security standards established by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the Canadian Communications Security Establishment. Based on extensive laboratory testing, FIPS Validation assures a high level of security and a cryptographically sound module that is required by Government agencies.

Validation of the 3e -010F Crypto Client Software supplements NIST's recent FIPS 140 -2 Level 2 approval of 3eTI's Access Points - the 3e -521NP, 3e -530NP and 3e -522FIPS. These networking elements combined with 3eTI's WLAN PC Card ensure the highest security for wireless LANs.
"The 3e -010F Crypto Client Software provides advanced wireless RF data security with AES/3DES encryption plus Dynamic Key generation plus session protection." commented Dr. Jim Pilgrim, 3eTI's Sr. Director of Wireless Business, "These advanced security options meet the standards mandated by the US Department of Defense. FIPS 140 -2 Validation of our products certifies WLAN security choices available to Government Organizations, all branches of the Military, and security minded businesses."
All of 3eTI's FIPS 140 -2 Validated products are integral components of the 3e WLAN Security Suite which offers supplemental Security Server Software for dynamic user keys. This OSI Layer 2 solution of end -to -end, FIPS 140 -2 Validated hardware and software provides an easy to install and manage high security wireless solution.
The 3e WLAN Security Suite is a lower total cost solution than traditional Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) while offering the additional benefits of:
- Network survivability with distributed encryption handled by smart APs vs. a vulnerable centralized VPN server
- Ease of configuration, maintaining existing network topology
- Seamless connectivity with single login
- Stronger encryption, done at the driver level, which prevents known privacy and Trojan software attacks
- Hardened and proven security (Advanced Encryption Standard - AES, 3DES) plus Dynamic Key Generation, per
session
- Low cost Security Server Software with built in 802.1x, EAP -TLS authentication
The 3e WLAN Security Suite implements leading cryptographic technologies including: AES, 3DES, SHA -1, HMAC SHA -1, 802.1x/EAP -TLS, Diffie -Hellman, RSA, and HTTPS/TLS. The Security Suite is implemented in an innovative manner so that critical performance is not sacrificed in providing a rugged FIPS 140 -2 highly secure wireless solution. Additionally, the 3e WLAN Security Suite features an RF Manager that allows the adjustment of WLAN RF output power level from 0 up to 200 milliwatts, providing broad coverage in excess of 2,000 feet and finer RF power control.
