Using a combination of advanced IR/RF `through-the-walls` remote control technology, the new URC-200 remote control puts the entertainment systems of an entire house into one hand.
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, January 9, 2004 - Universal Remote Control, Inc., the leader in remote control design and manufacturing for home and professional entertainment systems, today introduced the Automator™ (URC -200) universal and learning/programmable remote control system. The Automator can replace up to 10 home entertainment remote control units and when paired with the optional Expander™ MRF -100 RF base station receiver, it can do so for A/V equipment located anywhere in a house - through walls, doors and floors.
The Automator is the second of three new, highly functional, affordably -priced remote control systems unveiled at CES by Universal Remote Control, Inc. The Automator, along with the Unifier™ (URC -100) and Customizer™ (URC -300) remote control systems, bring high -end power to a significantly greater range of users by delivering professional -grade performance at a fraction of the cost. At a manufacturers` suggested list price of $150.00, the Automator performs more like a professional -grade remote control. Its well -lit and easy -to -read 7/8 x 1 -7/8 inch LCD screen can be adjusted to increase or decrease contrast and duration of lighting.
URC -200 operation of up to 10 different components is made easy by using two scrollable screen pages, each with five device selections to choose from. Once a device has been selected, the user can choose from 34 hard buttons that can be dedicated to control component functions pre -programmed in the Automator`s internal memory consisting of thousands of codes. The Automator also has learning capability so that complete and accurate reproduction of the original remote control codes can be applied to Automator button commands. In addition, the Automator can be easily "cloned" to a second Automator in less than two minutes so that a perfect copy of the original can be programmed and ready -to -go for use in a different location.
The Automator is part of Universal Remote Control`s vision of how to handle increasingly complex and still -evolving universe of home entertainment options, from Plasma TV to DVD, from SACD to DVD -Audio to Video -On -Demand to cable to satellite TV. As these options become more complex, command and control needs to become more straightforward, user -friendly and flexible. The Automator does just that and is capable of being programmed to perform multiple A/V operation commands with the press of one button using macros. The Automator can execute an amazing 190 commands per programmable button, placing nearly 90,000 possible commands in the hands of home entertainment enthusiasts.
Used with Universal Remoter Control`s new Expander™ MRF -100 RF base station receiver, commands sent via IR and RF signals can penetrate through walls, floors and reach out -of -sight equipment from up to 60 feet of controllable reach in IR mode and upwards of 100 feet in the RF mode.
Some of the important features of the Automator include: 8 LCD screens per device for adding or deleting pages to meet exact requirements, text editing on LCD screen, macro punch through and favorite channels. For users that desire complete "personalized" home automation, the Automator LCD screen labels can be easily customized to suit the need of each individual for quick and easy identification of devices, functions and more. When it comes to personalizing the URC -200, consumers can take the guessing out of channel selection by programming and using the favorite channel settings for instant access to up to 40 of their most frequently watched TV, cable or satellite broadcasts. Because the Automator is equipped with a unique flash memory back -up system, controls will stay functional and retain all programming in memory for up to ten years, even with dead batteries.
This remote control will be aesthetically compatible with a wide range of home entertainment systems for years to come, thanks to its upscale ergonomic design, durable tactile GemStone buttons and 5 -way thumbpad as well as its attractive metallic finish. All the buttons on the LCD screen and remote keypad are electro -florescent illuminated when the light button is pressed.
