OTC Wireless announces WiJET.Video - the first high -speed wireless multimedia adapter for enterprise
Utilizes 802.11g and customized software to provide high-quality video and audio
FREMONT, CA., - - January 8, 2004 - OTC Wireless, a leading provider of 802.11 and Wi -Fi equipment, today announced the WiJET.Video, the first high -speed, 802.11g wireless projector and display adapter. By connecting the WiJET.Video to a video projector, LCD, plasma screen or other display unit, users can now wirelessly transmit full motion video, animated rich media and wide bandwidth presentations from their laptop, desktop or mobile computing device. With built -in video conversion, the WiJET.Video offers a full range of connectivity for the presenter, able to connect to a standard VGA port as well as to component video, S -video, and composite video ports. In addition, this newest member of the WiJET family supports stereo audio as well.
"The enterprise and hospitality presentation marketplace is rapidly evolving to include more powerful and dynamic presentations using full motion, high resolution video," states Mario Castellanos, VP of Sales and business development. "We also believe that that consumers in the home market will be interested in a product like this for their home theaters."
"In addition to wirelessly supporting full motion, high -resolution video, we have developed special software that sets the OTC WiJET.Video apart from the crowd. In addition to playing MPEG 1 and MPEG 2 video streams, the OTC WiJET. Video can play embedded video while simultaneously showing a Microsoft PowerPoint slide presentation," added Mario Castellanos. "These are features that our customers and resellers have been asking us for their boardrooms and classrooms and now we are able to deliver."
The WiJET.Video utilizes the IEEE 802.11g standard operating in the 2.4 GHz frequency range with data transfer rate of up to 54 Mbps. It is compatible with any 802.11g Wi -Fi computer using Windows 98 and above. As 802.11g is backwards compatible with 802.11b, presenters can still utilize their legacy 802.11b wireless gear with the new ViJET.Video but, depending on the application, may not get full motion video or animation.
The WiJET family of video display adapters is available through OTC Wireless or one of our partners listed on the OTC Wireless website. The WiJET Video will be available first quarter 2004 for a list price of $799.00. http://www.otcwireless.com.
Three 802.11b based WiJET models are available for various application needs. The WiJET.PC supports computers using the Windows operating system. The WiJET.Mac supports the Apple Mac computers and the WiJET.m allows multiple projectors to display the same image from a Windows based PC.
