PLANET Systems Successfully Demonstrated ITRAN'S IT800D Narrowband Power Line Communication Modem IC Over the High Voltage Grid

PLANET Systems Co. Ltd (www.planetsys.co.kr), a leading provider of power line

communication (PLC) control and networking systems, has recently completed a successful trial
using ITRAN'S IT800D modem IC. The trial was held in South Korea for a major utility company.
PLANET'S IT800D based PLC modems successfully communicated over the high voltage
(22.9kV) grid, for a distance of 18km. The trial demonstrated the ability of using the high voltage
grid for applications such as automatic meter reading (AMR) and management of energy
distribution systems. PLANET'S design capabilities and the performance of the IT800D PLC
chip, enable the implementation of high performance low cost PLC metering and control
systems over the high voltage grid, in addition to in -home control systems and low voltage grid
remote metering solutions.
