Little Neck, NY, November 17, 2003 - In recognition of his many contributions to the electrical manufacturing industry, Harold Leviton, president and chief executive officer of Leviton Manufacturing Company, was presented the prestigious Bernard H. Falk Award by the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) at its 77th Annual Meeting and Leadership Conference held last week in Washington, DC. Each year, The Falk Award is presented to recognize exemplary contributions made to the electroindustry and NEMA, its trade association. Previous Falk Award recipients include elite members of science, business and government, including Senator John C. Danforth and astronaut Neil Armstrong.
"Harold Leviton is a legend in the electrical industry," said NEMA President Malcolm O'Hagan. "His dedication to the industry and to NEMA is truly remarkable. He has served on the NEMA board since 1976 and has rarely missed a meeting. At age 86, Harold still travels the world, positioning Leviton as a global player. His life revolves around his company and the industry he loves, and his active participation in NEMA sets an example for all industry leaders. He is the epitome of the good corporate citizen who invests his own time and talent in the furtherance of the industry and the public welfare."
An industry stalwart since 1965, when he assumed the leadership of the Leviton Manufacturing Company from his father Isidor Leviton, its founder, Harold Leviton has directed the company towards integrating the latest technologies into its products in the interest of performance and safety. "Over the course of my years in the electrical profession, I've seen the industry make enormous technological strides to the benefit of those who install and use our products," said Harold Leviton. "Members of our Association have worked tirelessly to lobby for increasingly higher standards and have embraced the role of educator and executor for these. I am proud to be a member of the electroindustry and to help our industry evolve into what it is today."
