LONGBEACH, CA, November 10, 2003 -At EHX 2003 Marantz America will demonstrate the concept of "total control" with its two highly versatile programmable learning remote controls -the touch -screen RC5400 and the sleek, value -priced RC1400. Both remotes, on display at Marantz' EHX Booth #1006, provide easy, complete control of every component in a home entertainment system, and offer customizable programming along with a host of sophisticated control capabilities.

The Marantz RC5400: Improved Touch -Screen Display and Control Flexibility
The Marantz RC5400 Programmable Touch -Screen Learning Remote Control is the successor to the popular and critically acclaimed RC5200, and includes significant upgrades that make it even more functional and easier to use. Offering greater versatility than even dedicated custom installation control systems, the RC5400 features a larger, higher -resolution 320 x 240 pixel black and white LCD touch -screen that can display images with 16 grayscale resolution, yielding much greater contrast and legibility than the previous model. The touch -screen is illuminated with electroluminescent backlighting, making it easier to read in darkened home theater environments.

In addition, the RC5400 includes an expanded 8 MB of internal memory, to hold all of the commands for even complex, multi -component audio/video systems including IR -controllable accessories such as lighting and motorized projection screens.

The RC5400 is completely customizable, featuring "virtual" touch -screen buttons and icons and re -configure and re -name themselves according to the audio or video component selected, along with conveniently located "hard" buttons and a cursor control for most -used functions. The remote can learn the control codes from virtually every brand of IR remote, can display hundreds of control screens, and comes pre -programmed to operate a wide variety of Marantz audio and video products. In addition, the RC5400 provides up to 56 kHz carrier frequency learning capability to operate Bang and Olufsen and other popular brands of audio/video equipment.

Although sophisticated in operation, the RC5400 is designed for easy setup and use. It offers a host of convenient functions such as one -screen access to all the controls of any selected component, and macro capability that enables the user to transmit multiple -step control sequences with a single command. Setup can be further customized via a PC interface and Windows® PC programming software that enables users to import custom animations, channel icons and even their own graphics and photos.

The RC5400 contains an extensive complement of additional advanced features, such as a setup protection feature that prevents settings from being accidentally changed, an Auto On function that automatically activates the remote when it is picked up, an adjustable backlight and sleep timer, and the ability to import full -color channel icons and personalized graphics. The RC5400 can also operate with Marantz's optional RX -77 RF Extender (SRP: $159) that enables it to control audio/video systems that would normally be outside the range of its IR beams, including systems located in rooms throughout the home. The RC5400 comes with a recharging unit/docking station and a rechargeable battery, eliminating the need for constant battery replacement.

The RC5400 is currently available at a suggested retail price of $649.

The RC1400: Affordable, Advanced Marantz Remote Control Technology
The Marantz RC1400 Programmable Learning Remote Control is a brand -new design from the ground up, and makes advanced Marantz remote control technology more affordable and accessible than ever. Like the RC5400, it provides complete control of every type of audio/video equipment -TVs, DVD players, A/V receivers, cable and satellite boxes, and almost every type of component that responds to IR control.

The sleek, contoured RC1400 is designed to fit comfortably into the hand and offers total system control via its convenient LCD display screen, along with a keypad that features buttons of different shapes and sizes, logically laid out for easy access and intuitive operation. The keys that operate with the LCD screen are user -customizable to correspond to the A/V component being controlled.

Like all Marantz remotes, the RC1400 is designed for unmatched ease of programming and use -the control codes from almost every brand of IR remote can be quickly transferred to the RC1400, and it comes pre -programmed to operate a wide variety of Marantz audio/video components. Its large, non -volatile memory capacity allows the unit to memorize hundreds of commands, for total control of even sophisticated home entertainment systems.

The Marantz RC1400 contains many additional advanced features to enhance user convenience, such as macro keys that can be programmed to transmit a series of commands at the touch of a single button.

The RC1400 is currently available at a suggested retail price of $169.
