A Winning Combination (Hitachi H8 Controller & ITRAN IT800D Modem IC) for Narrowband PLC Applications

Hitachi ULSI Systems Ltd. has introduced its new ULTRA-PLC module. The module combines ITRAN`S IT800D PLC Modem IC, Hitachi`s H8 microcontroller and a control protocol developed by Hitachi ULSI.

i ULSI Systems Ltd. (www.hitachi -ul.co.jp), a subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd., has introduced its new ULTRA -PLC module. The module combines ITRAN`S IT800D Power Line Communication (PLC) Modem IC, Hitachi`s H8 microcontroller and a control protocol developed by Hitachi ULSI. In addition, the module enables implementation of customer proprietary and other protocols using the H8 controller. This low cost yet high performance and robust combination, allow users to easily set a home network that controls electrical appliances, or implement their own application over the existing electrical wiring. Hitachi ULSI has already started sampling the module to major Japanese customers for initial evaluation. The ULTRA PLC Evaluation Kit, also available from Hitachi ULSI, allows evaluation and development options for a wide range of narrowband PLC applications.
