PCTEL's Segue™ Roaming Client Is Selected for Wi -Fi Service Offering in Japan

In this deployment, the Segue™ Roaming Client will feature full Kanji capabilities, a Wi-Fi service area database for Japan.

Chicago, IL - October 28, 2003 - PCTEL, Inc. (Nasdaq: PCTI), a leading provider of wireless solutions and access technology, today announced that its Segue™ Roaming Client software was adopted by NTT DoCoMo, Inc. to improve its Wi -Fi access service, named Mzone™, in Japan. PCTEL will add several features to Mzone to enhance its usability.

In this deployment, the Segue™ Roaming Client will feature full Kanji capabilities, a Wi -Fi service area database for Japan and the capability of automatically switching between NTT DoCoMo's Wi -Fi access service and other roaming or customer -registered Wi -Fi networks. The Segue™ Roaming Client will also provide secure connections for Mzone users by incorporating the IEEE 802.1X (TTLS) authentication mechanism and supports most major Wi -Fi cards distributed in Japan. All Mzone subscribers in Japan will be able to download the Segue™ Roaming Client customized for Mzone from NTT DoCoMo's Japanese website for its Wi -Fi customers.

The Segue™ Roaming Client provides an intuitive mechanism for giving laptop and handheld computing device users secure and seamless access and roaming capability to Wi -Fi networks in public areas, at the office and in the home. In addition, more than 80 Wi -Fi adapters have been currently tested with and are supported by the Roaming Client software.
