Sonance®, the leader in architectural audio, introduces Sonance Merlot, a new line of in -wall/in -ceiling 2 -way, coaxial audio speakers designed to deliver rich, full sound in residential and commercial applications where rooms may be small and installation space limited.

"Music, like a fine wine, helps create ambience," said Hal Hufford, vice president of sales and marketing for Sonance. "The Sonance Merlot speakers deliver a luxurious and intimate sound in rooms that would be overpowered by other speakers."

Hufford said Merlot is designed for use in homes, as well as for business uses such as corporate boardrooms, private dining rooms, doctors' waiting rooms, or anywhere rich, hi -fidelity performance is desired. Merlot speakers are

also designed to accommodate installations where internal wall space will not accommodate a standard depth speaker, such as in older high -rise apartments and in many international markets where building standards allow for narrower space between walls.
For the in -wall segment, the Merlot 422M rectangular in -wall speaker features a 4 -1/2" woofer that incorporates a glass reinforced ABS woofer basket with 2 -piece baffle design. This is matched with a 3/4" (19mm) pivoting cloth dome tweeter to deliver maximum performance.
To offer greater versatility for in -ceiling needs, Sonance offers the Merlot 421MR, a round speaker, with a 4 -1/2" polypropylene cone woofer. The 421MR features a 1/2" fixed cloth dome tweeter with bridge support styling, and a small, reduced bezel for an appealing design to emulate a recessed lighting fixture.

Each Merlot speaker carries a power rating of 5 - 60 Watts and delivers a frequency response of 60Hz - 20kHz (+ 3dB). Adaptable to any décor, each features an aluminum grille that can be painted to accommodate any color scheme. Merlot speakers will be available starting in July from authorized Sonance dealers with an MSRP of $325 per pair for the 422M, and $200 per pair for the 421MR. Flexbrackets for the speakers are also available from Sonance.
