High performance learning keypad combines intelligence, convenience and sleek styling
CEDIA EXPO, Indianapolis, IN, September 5, 2003 - Russound, a leading manufacturer of a/v products for the residential systems and connectivity markets, announced a major breakthrough in an affordable learning keypad - the UNO -IR2. It's the industry's only stand -alone IR keypad with a display, providing instant feedback, intuitive control and remarkable ease of use. Yet for all its style, convenience and capability, at only $349 (MAP), UNO -IR2 also represents an exceptional value as well.
UNO -IR2 is an in -wall programmable IR keypad that is customizable to your exact application needs. It works just like a universal remote to provide complete control of all your audio/video components. UNO -IR2 features a twelve -character backlit LCD display and buttons with selectable choice of two backlight colors, green or amber. The custom display provides important feedback for intuitive ease of use and there are custom source labels up to twelve characters. UNO -IR2 utilizes an elegant Decora® double -gang design and is available in five designer colors - White, Almond, Bone, Brown and Black.
UNO -IR2 has an IR remote control sensor with IR pass -through. It comes programmed with its own library of more than 1000 codes and can learn virtually all others. Also available for the UNO family of keypads is the UNO -LRC1, a pre -programmed/learning companion remote control. Along with its simple and intuitive design, the addition of IR control gives the UNO -S2 incredible convenience and versatility.
The UNO -IR -2 was more than a year in the making and is an intensive, collaborative effort by the Russound engineering team and Allen Boothroyd of Cambridge Product Design in England. Russound's Product Manager Andy Lewis, commented, "Our philosophy is that for the end user the most important component in any Multi -Room system is the keypad or user interface. For most people, it is the system. So by working with a top industrial designer like Allen Boothroyd, we focused a lot of our attention on style, convenience and ease of use." Mr. Lewis went on to add, "Of course what allows UNO to be so intuitive and user friendly is great software design. Our lead software engineer Bill Ramsdell did an outstanding job in making the UNO very responsive and easy to use."
The UNO -IR2 will be available September 2003 and sell for approximately $349 (MAP), though final pricing to the consumer will be determined by the dealer or installer. UNO -IR2 is a recipient of the prestigious CES Innovations Design & Engineering Awards recognizing excellence in exceptional design and innovation in Consumer Electronics. UNO -IR2 will be featured, along with the award -winning new CAV6.6 and UNO -S2 and the complete line of Russound a/v connectivity products, at the CEDIA Expo September 5 -7 in booth # 402 at the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis, IN.
