-- Acclaimed Mission fs1 Home Theater Loudspeaker System Has Been Upgraded to 6.1 Channels --
Huntingdon, England, September 5, 2003 -Mission, one of the world's leading innovators in advanced audio/video technology, today announced that its acclaimed Mission fs1 home theater loudspeaker system has been upgraded to the fs1 6.1 A/V system to take advantage of the new 6.1 -channel surround sound formats.
Key to the upgrading of the 6.1 -channel Mission fs1 6.1 A/V home theater loudspeaker system is an additional center back surround speaker, used to replay the additional surround channel in Dolby Digital Surround EX and other 6.1 -channel format soundtracks. With left and right surrounds positioned on both sides of the listening area, and the center back surround speaker behind, listeners can enjoy more consistent surround sound effects and a more powerful cinema -like audio experience.
Noted Steve Adams, Mission's New Technologies Manager: "With more Dolby Digital Surround EX -encoded films such as Lord of the Rings, Star Wars Episodes I and II, and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, as well as DTS 6.1 -encoded DVDs, along with the advent of more affordable A/V receivers with 6.1 -channel capability, there's now great consumer interest in achieving 6.1 playback in the home. Mission's new fs1 6.1 A/V system satisfies this demand, packaging five surround speakers, a dedicated center speaker and matching subwoofer to provide a complete 6.1 -channel speaker system."
Mission's distinctive, space -saving fs1 6.1 A/V home theater loudspeaker system utilizes advanced NXT flat -panel technology, designed to immerse listeners in room -filling sound for the most thrilling home theater experience. The ultra -modern fs1 6.1 A/V system offers a high -technology, high -style alternative to traditional box -type home theater speakers, and offers unprecedented flexibility and convenience for apartment dwellers and homeowners who want to enjoy the complete home theater experience in any size room.
The 6.1 -channel Mission fs1 6.1 A/V system achieves its breakthrough design and performance characteristics by eliminating speaker cabinets altogether, replacing them with elegant, slim -profile sound panels based on NXT flat -panel technology that fit snugly on walls or atop slender tower -like stands, along with a uniquely -designed powered subwoofer.
Mission "Intelligent" A/V System Replaces Speaker Cabinets
The attractively designed fs1 6.1 A/V system is designed to satisfy the growing consumer need for a five -speaker/subwoofer home theater loudspeaker system that fits easily into smaller -sized living spaces. Key to the breakthrough compact design of the fs1 6.1 A/V is Mission's "intelligent" system design, which eliminates the need for speaker cabinets -replacing them with slim -profile NXT sound panels that are designed to complement the living space rather than clutter it.
The fs1 6.1 A/V system includes five sound panels plus the active subwoofer with built -in 100 -watt amplifier, and may be easily connected to any 6.1 -channel home theater receiver and audio/video components such as a DVD player, VCR, satellite receiver and TV.
Innovative Subwoofer Offers Low -Frequency Punch and Installation Flexibility
The Mission fs1 6.1 A/V system features a powerful, yet compact, corner -mount subwoofer designed to fit easily behind a TV set or piece of furniture. The 8 -inch treated paper cone woofer, built -in 100 -watt amplifier and reflex -tuned enclosure provide the clear, dynamic, articulate bass response necessary for enjoying a movie theater -like experience at home.
The unique subwoofer design is a further demonstration of the innovative engineering philosophy of the Mission fs Series concept. Rather than adopt a traditional cube subwoofer design, with its limited placement capability, the fs1 6.1 A/V is designed to allow speaker placement in areas of the room traditionally considered to be "dead space" -the corners. By engineering the enclosure to take advantage of both floor and wall boundaries, the subwoofer is able to deliver surprisingly powerful bass from a compact, space -saving design.
The NXT Difference: Superb Sound Anywhere In the Room
Because the NXT panels featured in the Mission fs1 6.1 A/V system radiate sound in a different manner than traditional speaker systems, the relationship between speaker placement and the listener is much less critical. Thanks to its excellent dispersion characteristics, the fs1 6.1 A/V system produces remarkably pure, coherent and uncolored sound that is exceptionally smooth and balanced no matter where listeners sit in the room, without the volume attenuation over distance that is a disadvantage of conventional speaker designs.
Total Placement Flexibility
The elegantly styled fs1 6.1 A/V panels are supplied with desk stands and wall brackets, offering far greater versatility in room placement then conventional speakers. Optional matching floor stands are also available.
For added flexibility, all audio/video connections are simplified by an easy to use "plug and play" cable system. One multi -way cable connects from the subwoofer to the user's A/V receiver, and all of the satellite speakers plug into the rear of the subwoofer using the supplied cables -enabling the system to be set up and playing in a matter of minutes.
