CRESTRON INTRODUCES NEW HANDHELD RF REMOTES AT CEDIA 2003

Cost-effective options for handheld control in a Crestron Home environment include universal remote with LCD display and a rugged, waterproof 48-function remote unit for pools, hot tubs and even the shower.

As part of its Total Home Technology Package, Crestron is introducing two low -cost handheld RF remote control units at CEDIA 2003.

ML -500 MiniLCD RF Handheld Remote
The new Crestron ML -500 features a 1.4" x 2.1" LCD display that is customizable to allow a virtually unlimited number of functions. Beside the LCD display reside 10 programmable soft keys, which can be assigned to any function the owner chooses.

In addition, the ML -500 is a universal remote control that provides 27 programmable hard buttons. In the middle of these buttons is a Navigation Wheel for easy control of up/down/left/right/enter functions.

Featuring RF communication that goes through walls, the ML -500 is used with the Crestron CNRFGWA -418 RF Gateway. Like all Crestron touchpanels, it is programmable using Crestron's VT -PRO -e software.

WPR -48 Waterproof Handheld Remote
Covering all the bases, Crestron's Total Home Technology Package also includes the new WPR -48 waterproof remote.

With a ruggedized, waterproof case that's easy to grip and won't slip from moist hands, the WPR -48 is ideal for controlling systems like pools, Jacuzzis and even to adjust the music while in the shower.

The nine buttons down the center of the unit can be used for single functions or can be adjusted to dual function using the separator provided by Crestron, which will create functionality on either side of the button. Moreover, by using the shift key, the buttons can be programmed to have multiple functions, with the maximum number of functions totalling 48. The buttons can also be custom labeled by the integrator or by Crestron.

Shipped complete with a stylish docking/charging station, the WPR -48 has a long -life lithium ion battery. It also provides a brilliant blue luminescent backlight for use in the dark and should be used with Crestron's CNRFGWA -418 RF Gateway.

Yale Real Living™ Assure Lock™ with Bluetooth

The new Yale Real Living™ Assure Lock™ with Bluetooth replaces conventional keys with digital keys accessed through the Yale Digital Keys app for Android and iOS mobile devices, and through an app for the new Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch. The Yale app allows homeowners to unlock doors, send keys to others, control when others have access, get a message when someone enters, and revoke a digital key at any time. Unlocking the deadbolt couldn't be simpler, whether using the Samsung Gear S2 or a smartphone. With the new Samsung Gear S2, touch the watch app to activate the digital key, then touch the lock screen to unlock the deadbolt. With a smartphone, Yale's "Twist and Go" technology allows the user to hold the phone vertically when approaching the door, then twist it 90 degrees to unlock the deadbolt. Homeowners can also unlock the deadbolt using its capacitive touchscreen and a four- to eight-digit code.
