GE Interlogix Launches Distributed Audio Solution For Smart ConnectionCenter

GE Interlogix expands its structured wiring solution

North St. Paul, Minnesota - August 5, 2003 - GE Interlogix has announced the launch of a distributed audio solution for the Smart ConnectionCenter(tm). This system, as part of the Smart ConnectionCenter, will enable up to four audio sources to be distributed to four rooms utilizing Cat5e cables as the transmitting medium. Since the amplification occurs after the receiver, at the volume control, the system enables true individual volume and independent source control at each location. The system also includes the capability to control the four audio sources from any of the four rooms via IR.

The system components include: a module that fits into the Smart ConnectionCenter enclosure, a volume control with an embedded amplifier (1 per room) that has both an IR capability and the ability to accept a local audio input for an MP3 player, television, or any other audio source one would want to distribute within one room, and audio source plates.

"Builders are looking for this type of product as part of a structured wiring solution because homebuyers demand it," said Jens Bolleyer, GE Interlogix Product Manager. "Research shows that the number of distributed audio installations has steadily increased over past years. Our customers demand a cost -effective, quality audio distribution solution. Combined with our Smart ConnectionCenter, our audio distribution product helps complete a "whole home" solution for distributed audio, video, computer networking, and communication."

The distributed audio solution, part of the Smart ConnectionCenter, will be available to both dealers and distributors in late fall of 2003.
